Are the Oilers a top 5 contender next season with Jack Campbell?

When you have by far the worst GM in the NHL it's pretty difficult to be a top 5 team. McDrai are absolute miracle workers for getting this absolute donkey of a GM into top 4.

Chiarelli and Benning did a number on the Canucks and Oilers

Oilers may not make the playoffs with that defense and goaltending.
They’ll add Makar for Pulju (next Nichushkin) and a 3rd before the trade deadline should help

Edit: added a 3rd round pick. The old trade wasn’t balanced.

Patiently waiting for the Oilers to pull the trigger on a couple of trades that gets them Jakob Chychrun and Patrick Kane. Just a matter of time boys... Just a matter of time.
Presumably Chychrun is moved to forward? Because they need forward depth, they apparently don’t score enough goals

I'm not sure if McDavid is going to win a cup with Edmonton. You just hate to think what Chiarelli could have done to build a young core around McDavid. They've been thin on defense for 15 years.

Does Jack Campbell complete this team and push them to the top 5 for contending next season?
If by "Jack Campbell" you mean "Andrei Vasilevsky" or "Igor Shesterkin", then yes.

They won't.

McDavid will leave for Toronto once his contract finishes. Matthews will leave Toronto, Leafs will chew on diapers for a year, and then sign McDavid.

The Oilers were really spoiled with Smith stealing them games down the stretch last year (along with coaching bump).

This is who they are with a bad goalie in the net. No team defense and McDrai is the team.
