I don't think I've seen him look like that in an interview before. Sort of strange.

His shot power seems to be okay but lacks accuracy tonight. He just needs to stop playing with his wrists at night.

I wonder if Florida would do a 1v1 for a signed Tkachuk, reunite him and Marner.

Was a couple years in a row actually where Ovie was way below his normal standard.

Is that the train you all are jumping on now?

Lol guy was a 60-goal 2-way force last season and all it takes is one down year for everyone to start shitting on him. What a fickle fanbase, my god.

I’ve been consistent in believing Marner is the heartbeat of the team.

I have a really really hard time seeing toronto Winning the cup with a less than 100% matthews…especially when it’s a wrist injury that effects his shot..

For all the angst and vitriol he is receiving......Matthews has 9 goals in his last 14 games.

And for all the anger directed at the Leafs, they have won 4 of their last 5.

Carry on.

I think the idea would be extend Matthews in the summer or trade him. At the point what would you offer him?

If he is really dealing with some ailment, I really hope he can be as close to 100% for playoffs. We need him to be last years Auston to beat Tampa.

We can afford to rest him if it’s needed, our top 2 Center spots should be fine with Tavares and O'Reilly for the time being.

He doesn't care .. Matty knows his next pay day is tied to playoff performance .. in fact both Dubie and Matty are on exact same page .. Matty's stats this year will mean ZERO in his contract negotiation in summer if team wins Cup or goes a couple rounds then expect Matty to get 8 year deal at 15M per

I think it's obvious he's hurt, and it's not an injury that will get better with rest. Wouldn't surprise me if it's surgery once this season is done.

You can see him losing pucks while stick handling, that doesn't happen to one of the best stick handlers in the game...

that's for the GM to figure out. But if the GM sees Matthews as more this season's, then I don't think Matthews will resign at that value.
No I wouldn't expect him to.
Matthews may look to play out the whole season to up his value before signing.
For that reason I think Dubas opens the vault asap.

I mean he is going to have 85 points in his worst year in the past 4.

Umless the Leafs know something about a long term injury he will get paid for winning two rockets and being a runner up.

Can't really ask for more than 12.5. Unless they win the Cup
I agree they'll pay him.
To me he should slot in under Mackinnon but I don't really expect him to.
