You know what I find ironic about this post. The Blues plaster players like that all the time...and you, the fan base, say it tough clean hockey. But NOW...players have to answer to that hit. How would the Blues fanbase feel having to watch Backes or Jackman answser after a clean hit almost every game?
i personally wouldn't have a problem with it. if they were challeneged.. i have no doubt they would anwser the bell.. everytime. then again i love physical and hardnose hockey.. which includes fighting

What is wrong with you people? Ever heard of 'sticking up for your star player'? God, with these comments, you'd think this was a repeat of Bertuzzi-Moore.

It's different. The guys Stewart hit got right up and was not hurt. Why do you need to defend a player that just got hit? It's really dumb.

Interesting that there was no mention of Stuart having his jersey come up very easily or that the hit was pretty high (not saying illegal, but very close at least) or that Stuart dropped the gloves first. I have never bought into the whole Wings are the golden child of the league and Versus (NBC Sports Network) but I find all of this very odd.
Does not matter if his jersey was tied down or not. If you come off the bench and immediately start a fight, in retaliation, you are getting the extra penalty.

Probably because no one on Detroit knows how to fight.

Chris Stewart has pretty much imposed his will on the Red Wings this year.

With an illegal hit that got him suspended and an instigator penalty that lead to a tying goal.

Yup.

The Blues are winning games because of their hard work and commitment to the system. That is how they scored the first goal and won the opening period tonight. Not because of Chris Stewart.

Exactly... It wasn't a dangerous hit. He got right back up and was fine. /shrug He wasn't even shaken up.

Because it wasn't a clean hit to the body.

Wings fans, explain to me how that hit was any different than Cole's hit on Abdelkader that got him suspended?

Everyone saying Stuart dropped his gloves first. Well he had to defend himself. He can't just skate away or he might be Bertuzzi'd.

Oh good lord. So it's a dirty hit all of the sudden?!

Talk about grasping.

Not just star players. Team mates. If you see a hit you don't like on the ice, you have 2 options. 1) whine 2) do something about it. If you choose 2, challenging a guy to fight is a lot better, and dare i say honorable, that whacking him with the stick or giving him a little elbow next time you hit him.

Man up, or go watch the Euro leagues.
3) Take a number and get the guy back with a clean hit, or start hitting their star players.

It's how it used to be done.

It's one thing if it looks like a dirty hit in the heat of the moment, but jumping a guy after a clean hit is idiotic and isn't the way the game used to be played. These are tough hockey players. They should be able to take a clean hit without a teammate going after the guy who did it.

Cole's principal point of contact was the head. Here the principal point of contract was not the head.

You've got to be kidding. Cole only made contact with Abbys chin. Stuart hit him square in the chest. The two hits don't compare.

EDIT: got a little worked up on that one. my bad.

Stewart did a number on Stuart. lol

I really don't know why people have such a problem with someone sticking up for a teammate. If you really don't want to fight just turtle and make sure you draw the Instigator. So much pointless crying.

Great hit by Stuart. And I do wish the Wings had a player on their roster to make Stewart answer for being a d-bag.
