Surprised by the reaction in here. I think people would be surprised by how many GM's would take Trouba on their team.

Anaheim didn't give up much, they get a hard nosed defenseman & leader to help with their young group. Only 1 more year left on his deal after this one, so its not like its a long term contract at this point.
same, I guess I'm out of date on Trouba, but I thought he was still a solid top 4 physical guy on par with McCabe

95% of our board (myself included) would've rejoiced at literally someone claiming him on waivers to avoid retention.

The fact that we found a team stupid enough to give up a pick and a player for him makes me think I'm on a ketamine trip right now.

I think lots of teams would be interested if his salary was 4M. At 8M he should've been a negative asset.

if you think the cap means anything to the ducks right now, you are very wrong
That's fine, but I'm sure assets mean something for Anaheim

Trouba had NYR stuck, to not get any assets out of taking this contract on is terrible

This is funny whenever I see this. He makes $8,000,000 a year. Hes a professional athlete. His wife is a doctor on track to make 7-figures as well. They can afford multiple live-in nanny’s.

Or, if you really need to be together 24/7 he can always retire from hockey or she can drop out of medical school.

The pearl clutching here is insane. There’s an old saying, “THATS WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR”.

Give me $8,000,000/yr and you can inconvenience me alllllll you want

Who's clutching pearls? I said he has to be furious.

I can sort of understand this from the Ducks. With the cap going up and multiple players on ELC's, they're going to have cap space up the wazoo. Like, even after this and a couple RFA signings, you're still looking at 20 million next summer.

Not sure how much they're willing to spend in free agency. Trouba is signed for just 1 more year. Helps not having to worry about cap floor.

After Leo Carlsson got pushed into the net and Zegras Slewfooted . This needed to happen. Trouba on the team, opposing teams goons will think twice about going after the Ducks kids.

He just has to hit the crap out of everyone.

Is this you rn as a Ranger/Ducks fan?

Makes me sick to see franchises still continuing on the legacy of the Coyotes and acting as a charity service for big market teams to bail them out of bad contracts.

This stuff shouldn't be allowed by the league, it's embarrassing.
Yeah, the league should void trades that other teams make for . . . reasons.

Lmfao. Some of you guys are legitimately malding over this.

Hold on I gotta sit down...

Are you telling me the "Negative Value" folks didn't get this right?

The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?
Boo hoo. It's a business. Maybe he wouldn't have got traded if he was a better player.

One thing I learned today is that being the captain of the Rangers is basically a ticket out of town. It has ended ugly for the last three players. That were named captain of this team.
