While I understand that RHDs with size are frequently in demand and cost more than they should, Anaheim should've been getting picks back, not giving them out.

Verbeek bailed out the Rags big time. Awful trade for the Ducks.

The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?
They have banks in Anaheim too right?

If he's that mad he can retire. Or reflect upon his shitty play that got him traded in the first place

It's nuanced. Expectations got inflated with an inflated contract that he drastically underperformed against. He hasn't been good on the ice but has been carrying some struggling partners the last couple years as well.

However, there is absolutely value here for the Ducks. They get Trouba for the same thing the Rangers got him for: Veteran insulation. Trouba allowed Fox to work into the lineup behind him and eventually take over. He's taken a lot of criticism that could've gone Miller's way. And honestly if he can regain some form I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Ducks flip him for more than they paid for him at the deadline next year.

I think if you asked most Ducks fans would you trade Vak and a conditional 4th for a 2nd in the 2026 draft they would say yes. And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Verbeek get that a year from now for Trouba at 50% retention.

People are going nuts but this could prove to be a good move for both teams in a year.
always nice to see a trxjw post

He had a 15 team no trade list. That gave him a lot of power to block locations he considered undesirable.

Why would he be "furious"? I'm sure he understands the line of work he's in. He'll have some extended time off for the 4 Nations this year, and players are on the go, not around all that much during the season.

This is funny whenever I see this. He makes $8,000,000 a year. Hes a professional athlete. His wife is a doctor on track to make 7-figures as well. They can afford multiple live-in nanny’s.

Or, if you really need to be together 24/7 he can always retire from hockey or she can drop out of medical school.

The pearl clutching here is insane. There’s an old saying, “THATS WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR”.

Give me $8,000,000/yr and you can inconvenience me alllllll you want

I mean... You don't think other players have wives that have jobs?

she's a doctor with a year left in her residency. you can't just apply for a new job in anaheim to be closer to your husband and she doesn't have the ability to take time off or work from home

Have to laugh at people saying Gudas/Trouba will be the bash brothers, rack up suspensions, etc.

Gudas can't even land a hit these days and from what it sounds like Trouba is not much different.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. The Rangers make bad signings and then unload them for nothing like Goodrow because other GMS want to help them out apparently. Idiot Ducks could have asked for a second round pick at least for doing NYR this huge favor. It's like Anaheim has Chuck Fletcher as GM.
here’s the problem, these guys think Trouba is good. it’s the nhl. most of the guys running these teams are clueless

this is a fine trade for the ducks

they needed a big, physical d-man badly and a 7th d-man/4th round pick is basically nothing to give up

The fact that Devil and Islander fans and Ranger haters are livid with this trade, tell you they think it's good for the Rangers and probably bad for the ducks.

Trouba has an extra year @ 8M, Rangers got off without retention, I think they did well.

Hope he does well in ANA.
