The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?
He's been moping around like a baby since we tried to move him this summer. Maybe he should have came to work ready to perform after blocking the trade this summer and not being put on waivers then. To mope around like he's done for 25% of the season as captain of a marquee organization, you deserve to be cut.

I'm surprised the Rangers got rid of that contract without either retaining salary or sending a pick or something else Anaheim's way.

I just don't know what you're thinking if you're Trouba, tbh. Feels like he was cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Complete lack of self awareness on what power you actually hold if he vetoed a trade to Columbus.

Drury dumped Goodrow and Trouba in the span of 5 months, and didn't have to pay anything to other teams to do so.

Now lock up Igor for 8 years and we are cooking.
Was it a situation where Goodrow and Trouba had to go to make room for guys they want to keep?

I don't follow the rangers that close but had he really fallen off that hard?

It's nuanced. Expectations got inflated with an inflated contract that he drastically underperformed against. He hasn't been good on the ice but has been carrying some struggling partners the last couple years as well.

However, there is absolutely value here for the Ducks. They get Trouba for the same thing the Rangers got him for: Veteran insulation. Trouba allowed Fox to work into the lineup behind him and eventually take over. He's taken a lot of criticism that could've gone Miller's way. And honestly if he can regain some form I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Ducks flip him for more than they paid for him at the deadline next year.

I think if you asked most Ducks fans would you trade Vak and a conditional 4th for a 2nd in the 2026 draft they would say yes. And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Verbeek get that a year from now for Trouba at 50% retention.

People are going nuts but this could prove to be a good move for both teams in a year.
