As a life long Rangers fan I wouldn’t wanna play for a Drury team. Between Goodrow and now Trouba that’s no way to treat your players. Almost makes me think the team is giving up on him.

It's just going to make players negotiating with the Rangers far less likely to be flexible on having NMC's for waivers so that can't be held over them. Middle tier players don't always get full NMC's for trade purposes through the life of the contract so negotiating power for a full no trade the entire contract will really come down to the player quality, I think. I don't think it changes much else. They'll still be in demand, as they always are.

LMAO what in the world
Thought it would cost a 1st to get rid of that bum

Anaheim likely cares more about the real money involved in the trade.

An experienced RHD who can eat up minutes for 6.5M x 2 is not a bad proposition for a team that is in a high tax state. Look at how wild the RHD free agent market was this past season, and then add in the low possibility that a top RHD chooses any one particular team (let alone a high tax team that is not a contender). On top of that, term would be a big factor. Trouba has 1 year left after this one. A free agent is going to be a 4-7 year commitment.

People also undervalue RHD in relation to how few of them their are available. It's why San Jose getting a 3rd to take Ceci was such an underrated move. We're now at 32 teams. There probably aren't enough NHL defensemen to fill 32 rosters, let alone RHDs.

Couldn't care less about where a couple of multi-millionaires want to live.

If he wanted to stay in NY that badly, play up to your contract.

He did a solid job of captaining when he was here. Unfortunately when you're paid $8M per, just being a voice in the room and a complete liability on the ice isn't enough.

The Rangers have too many guys making a lot of money that aren't hungry anymore. If any guy has an excuse (if that even exists), it's Kreider. That MF has some absolute playoff MILES on him. If he wants to go 85% in the reg season, I get it.

Trouba has no excuse.

So he had positive value after all? People here are gonna be in shambles
What the Rangers got for "value" is like saying $.38 is a bunch of money. Many said they would have to sweetener him, which good on them they didn't have to, but they didn't get an actual payback.

The took their captain and shot him into the sun. With nothing in return.

The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?

He can dry his tears with hundred dollar bills in shorts on his deck in December.

Once again HF absolutely nails it by thinking we'd have to pay to get rid of Trouba. Never change, HF. Never change.
I don't follow the rangers that close but had he really fallen off that hard?

I guess so, he is just really really really bad. And I am one of the guys who appreciates grit more than 95% of this board, just look at my avatar. But he is just a bad hockey player.

Also 8M not 6.5M
