I feel like with Fox getting hurt, it exposes how weak our Left Side has become. Lindgren and KAM are on the struggle bus... break can't get here soon enough

Has this team put together a complete 60 minutes?

It's promising to see, when we actually can skate, make passes and play hockey, we can play with anyone. We also can come out like the 2nd period and lose to anyone.

Dam, I wish we went with Shesty last night. At least would have gotten 2 pts out of this back to back. Gallant should put Panarin with Zib and Kreider. They did that and it worked, only to go back to Panarin and Strome again.

He has tried every which way to fill the holes at RW in the top 6. Everyone he puts there is horrendous. That's about it.
Lack of RW depth is not the reason this team is one of the worst in the league 5v5. And Kakko played his best of the entire season with Panarin/Strome until an injury put him of Kreider's line. Why he refuses to try that again is beyond me. Should be common sense. Should be common sense to get your team ready to play after you embarrassed yourselves the night before and were now playing on a banner raising night. What does he tell the team between periods?

They clearly believe in the "quality over quantity" idea, but the problem is that when you generate so little and give up so much the quantity becomes so overwhelming that it doesn't make up for it. It's not working but the FO doesn't seem to understand it.
I've said it since 2014 when the corsi thing started: sure, not every shot is a chance, but every chance is a shot. They absolutely correlate over large samples, which is common sense when you think about it.

I've also always believed that you can generate quality when you have the puck, but you can't stop NHL teams from generating quality over any significant sample if you just let them have the puck.

I think Gallant needs to be harder on the team in practice.

Yes, the schedule has not done us any favors... but we seem to fatigue too quickly and start the mental breakdowns way too often

Maybe once all season. Otherwise it's what you've been seeing.

I’m not about to blame the coaching/system, don’t know enough, not like I do football, but what I do know is that Z is not the dominate force he was, that predates this staff. He’s just not at that level, before 2020 the guy just drove play. You’re starting to see it with Panarin too.

Our young guns are not doing much, I’m watching old man Zucc work them in the corners and along the boards, sad as hell.

Really feel a lot of this is roster composition/talent, maybe some complacency up at the top too, getting old, fat, and complacent.

Shesty is a hell of talent, so is Fox, but that’s about it from the young group. You see bursts and flashes but nothing that really feels sustainable.

Speaking of Kakko, who's been dog shit offensively every year now regardless of linemates, he's one of the guys who probably sees himself traded to change the complexion of the top 6. Nothing against Kakko or his potential, but there's enough soft players who shy away from contact in the top 6 already. Even moreso if they actually re-sign Strome (I hope not).

I've always had a theory that the Rangers are almost too much 'first class' org. You can't treat hockey players like a princess.

I know Gallant didn't like the question about how this team takes periods off, but for at least 5-6 games we have seen clear difference in levels of effort from period to period. As Joe used to say, they're moving their feet or not moving their feet.

We lost the last 2 games because of that. Is the team burnt out from the traveling? At least we have a 2 week break, that we normally wouldn't have, to try and get this going again.

Panarin zib and Kreider worked well together...should have put them together for the 3rd
the team was dead in the water... there was no coming back.

We're running on empty... or we've hit empty and are rolling towards the all-star break.

Usually I get over a loss in about a half an hour… This one has me effing angry

Re-signing Strome and trading Kakko would basically signal a death knell for this rebuild. The Rangers have failed to hire guys who can develop. They went win-now way too fast. Here's a hard truth - this team should have never signed Panarin. He's been one of the best players in the league since we got him, but a team that wanted to rebuild on prospects shoudn't have switched gears and rebuilded on vets, which in turn leads to less chances for your young players. Look at PP1 - how do you not find a way to get just one of the guys you drafted at 2 or 1 a PP opportunity? They don't care, they want to win now. And that is why this rebuild is bound to fail. It's maddening and frustrating.

Evander Kane would have grabbed Greenway …
Just Sayin

he tore us apart tonite and Reaves went lady byng

ahaha. Kane cares only about Kane.
Also Reaves actually did grab Greenway by his face. Greenway wanted no part of him and Foligno got between them.

And one more thing.

Lots of teams have flaws and lots of teams have styles that maybe aren't the most conducive to winning it all.

If this team was extremely high-event and trying to win 8-6 every night, then everyone would say "well, defense wins championships." But here's the thing -- that would be fun. Even if they were a low-event team, I could f*** with a 1-0 hockey game and would love pissing off the main boards.

This isn't fun. I've had a lot of people tell me "well our goalie is part of the team and I won't apologize for it!" Ok, fine, but I don't understand how folks have fun watching one player perform. I didn't get it with Hank and I don't get it with Igor, and that has nothing to do with them.
