Lol yeah exactly. But I think it has more to do with his conditioning and stamina than anything.

Could be a lingering issue from the WWF smash Wilson did on him, but his conditioning looks nothing remotely close to what it was two years ago. Then he looked like he could walk into an UFC match - now he looks like a dad skating on his Sunday off.

I know Gallant didn't like the question about how this team takes periods off, but for at least 5-6 games we have seen clear difference in levels of effort from period to period. As Joe used to say, they're moving their feet or not moving their feet.

We lost the last 2 games because of that. Is the team burnt out from the traveling? At least we have a 2 week break, that we normally wouldn't have, to try and get this going again.

He might not like the question but he sees what we see. They came out gangbusters, and then laid an egg. I understand there are ebbs and flows, but at times it’s so one sided I don’t know what to think. They just loose all the juice.

It’s just the same theme, it dates back a while, not a lot of consistency period to period, game to game. There are a few players that are consistent, and even some of them are not hitting their prior highs.

hard not to feel frustrated, feels like we’re spinning our wheels

I got crushed for saying Lindgren is overrated but he is

They need to go out and get chychrun
I dont think lindgren is overrated, I think he's the perfect pair for fox, because he's not asked to do too much. He got exposed trying to help out schneider adjust but he's a better 4d than a 2d.

Re-signing Strome and trading Kakko would basically signal a death knell for this rebuild. The Rangers have failed to hire guys who can develop. They went win-now way too fast. Here's a hard truth - this team should have never signed Panarin. He's been one of the best players in the league since we got him, but a team that wanted to rebuild on prospects shoudn't have switched gears and rebuilded on vets, which in turn leads to less chances for your young players. Look at PP1 - how do you not find a way to get just one of the guys you drafted at 2 or 1 a PP opportunity? They don't care, they want to win now. And that is why this rebuild is bound to fail. It's maddening and frustrating.

U can make the same argument regarding Jagr years ago, when Hank came onto the scene. Maybe it was better to completely rebuild then, instead of bringing in Jagr and his Czech mates. Hank might also have a ring.

They clearly believe in the "quality over quantity" idea, but the problem is that when you generate so little and give up so much the quantity becomes so overwhelming that it doesn't make up for it. It's not working but the FO doesn't seem to understand it.

Not only that. With Gallant wanting the team to score from rebounds and in close, the quality chances are going to be lower quality chances. If you want quality chances you have to open up the goalie, move him E-W, and you have to create 3 on 2s and 2 on 1s which this team doesn't. The team has lost it's EW game pretty much (first goal today apart), it has no transition/counter attacking game to speak of, and doesn't generate enough shots from the blue line so the forwards can work in close for tip ins and rebounds. The offense 5v5 just isn't there. It doesn't help that 5v5 the 4 BFF's are mostly just skating around waiting for a PP so they can shine.

Yes, you can But that's besides the point because the Rangers traded for Jagr in 2004 before Lundqvist was even a thought in anyone's mind and the Rangers didn't send out a letter to their fans preaching a patient rebuild.

The real sad part of this team's history is that Lundqvist is the biggest blessing the organization ever had and in the same breath the biggest detriment to ever building a proper team around him. He was too good. He would drag shitty teams into the playoffs nearly every year.

Speaking of Kakko, who's been dog shit offensively every year now regardless of linemates, he's one of the guys who probably sees himself traded to change the complexion of the top 6. Nothing against Kakko or his potential, but there's enough soft players who shy away from contact in the top 6 already. Even moreso if they actually re-sign Strome (I hope not).

Funny that you say that. This team misses Kakko much more than it does Panarin when he is out.

Missed the game. Missed the ceremony. Lots of very sad Rangers fans on my train right now.

As someone who was at the game, it wasn't just the last call the refs butchered. They were atrocious in the 2nd period too, and had they been calling the game straight, our guys probably score at least 1 goal in the 2nd.

Also, Laf looked pretty decent on the Zibanejad line. Tbh, he looked better than Zib.

Also also, guy sitting next to me flew over from Sweden for the game. Didn't catch his name but he seemed a pretty decent guy

Watching the Chicago goal with their goalie pulled against Colorado I have questions Mr. NHL referees.

That was Peter Forsberg, dude

The officials let Minnesota get away with a ton until they tied it. That was a huge reason the ice looked tilted after the Rangers took the early lead. The Rangers absolutely need to overcome it though.
