Those are a lot closer to the lines we might see on opening day.

I like the idea of putting Kadri between 2 good 2-way players like Kulemin and MacArthur.

Grabovski with JVR also seems good on paper.

Overall, again on paper, I like these lines. Replace Orr with Komarov and it's not half-bad.

YEESSSSS KADRI IS PLAYING CENTER! Thank you god!

At the end of last year they did say they were going with a top 9 bottom 3. This works. I think Kadri and Grabovski switching on their lines makes sense though..

Burke did say he's learned that this NHL is all about a top 9 bottom 3.
I agree with Frattin being along Kadri's wing, seemed like those two had great chemistry.

Kadri between Kule and MacA could work out pretty well...having 2 pretty natural finishers paired with Kadri is ideal, IMO. Plus, Kulemin is a defensive beast, and MacA is no slouch. We all saw the wasted chances Kadri gave to Lombo and Connolly last season...

Mac is more of a playmaker himself so I'll be happy if he can dish some passes to kadri to finish as well :)

I like the idea of Kadri with Kulemin and Mac, although I'd prefer the third line to be JVR - Grabo -Frattin.

I don't think the original poster about this "negativity" was referring to fans and media. He was referring to the demanor of people in the organization, like Nonis, Carlyle and other players.

But certainly it can affect the fans and media. Edmonton's fans and media haven't been nearly as hard on them for a team who has faired so poorly, because they know there is a plan in place and that the young players are developing.

Having a GM and coach who can back up that sentiment and let everyone know there is a plan to build up the young talent while still trying to win is better than a GM who says he "hates losing" and "wants to accelerate the rebuild" and a coach who calls out young players put in compromising situations because his job is on the line like he did with Kadri.

When he said puts the team bad light, I assumed that meant perception from fans and media.

Sure a "nicer" coach and GM might bring less or differently targeted negativity, but the negativity will be there when the team is in the situation that the leafs are and will be there until they start winning.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Kulemin
MacArthur - Kadri - Frattin
MacIntyre - McClement - Brown

Gardiner - Phaneuf
Gunnarsson - Franson
Liles - Komisarek
-Holzer

If they can get some chemistry it could be a solid line. We could use the depth of rolling 3 lines that can score. A top 9 of:

Lupol-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Frattin
Kuli-Kadri-Mac

Pretty much 3 #2 lines. Even on the third line Grabo would be playing about the same time. But whatever, switch the lines so he's on the 2nd line.

grabo will be playing 18 + mins. I doubt kadri will.

If Kadri works out at center I'd see him getting 15-16 mins. Unless he plays surprisingly well I don't think he will be playing top line minutes.

rather go with what's proven and sick grabo with one of mac or kulie

JVR-grabo-mac/kulie
frattin-kadri-kulie/mac

The fact of the matter is we need some home town boys pride. When we had home town boys playing for the Leafs, we didn't get man handled by Boston Bruins 7-1 in our home arena.
You don't have to like everything Cherry says, but he does drive home some good point. We need players that play with more pride, American boys that Burkie got aren't cutting it.

Me too, it was one of the most embarrassing moments for me as a leaf fan. I saw a lot of things I never want to see again last year. For example, I was literally 10 feet away from that Schenn giveaway when Florida was in (last game Ron Wilson coached too iirc).

Id go with

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel (18-20 mins)
MacArthur - Grabovski - Frattin (18-20 mins)
JVR - Kadri - Kuelmin (16-18 mins)
Komarov - McClement - Brown (4-6 mins)

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Komisarek
Liles - Franson

Kadri's falters are his size and defensive play, put 2 of our strongest/best defensive forwards on either side of him and his only responsibility is to produce offensively. Grabovski plays along side a 40-60 point winger and a rookie with a leathal shot. Lupul - Bozak - Kessel stay the same

PK 1:

McClement - Kuelmin
Gunnarsson - Phaneuf

PK 2:

Bozak - Grabovski
Komisarek - Gardiner?

PP 1:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Liles - Phaneuf

PP2

JVR - Grabovski - Kadri
Gardiner - Franson

We need another solid DFD with a bomb of a shot

Grabovski is not the teams 3rd line center, and there in lies the problem, as he is he best one Leafs have at present..

While JVR and Frattin might very well be 3rd liners when camp breaks.

JVR will be competing with Mac and Kulemin to see if he can get into the top 6 forwards on the wing, and he is at a disadvantage because those wingers with Grabs have history and prior chemistry. That in a shortened season and desire to get off to a fast start will factor into line-up decisions.

Yeah, I hope so. I think the Leafs will be an improved team with Kadri at center. That kid is going to draw a lot of penalties. I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of interesting commentary on the ice, probably similar to Subban.

For the record, I didn't mean necessarily that Grabo would be playing ON the third line. I mean I wouldn't mind if that was a line, as in they could be 2nd or 3rd. Who knows.

Mac is a stop-gap winger, and always was.
Move him to the highest bidder, and get Kadri in there ASAP.
We know what we have in Mac, and I think Kadri WILL be the better player, hands-down, given the opportunity. It's time to let the kid play.

There is no good reason Kadri and Frattin shouldn't be on this club this year.
