Assuming Kulemin is another pk forward, who (aside from McClement) will be taking faceoffs? I'm guessing whenever Brown is out then Steckel is in, and he'll be a pk forward. Whenever Steckel is not in though we'll likely see Grabovski-Kulemin as a pk pair.

I'd guess the pairings, based on last year:

McClement-Brown
Grabo-Kulie
Bozak-Komarov

Steckel can also pk if in the lineup.

Steckel's likely the odd man out as he 13th forward ... Acquiring McClement made his role in the line up redundant

I actually meant the team acquiring him may want to Leafs to take a contract back. He may actually clear waivers.
For example, the Canucks may want him, but not have a contract space available, so tomorrow after noon, they make a trade for him (where the leafs retain some salary) and the Leafs get back a player like Patrick Mullen for instance.

Yea I honestly feel Steckel is redundant with McClement being better than him in every aspect, except a 7% dropoff in faceoff %. I'll take that, let Steckel be in the press box, allowing for Kadri and Frattin to both make it.

Leafs currently have $7,134,167, so 900k would give them $8 million.

If the Leafs have a net $8 million increase cap space deal on the way we're talking a huge talent coming in.

I'd carry more defenceman than forwards personally. A dman can slide up to forward for 6-8 mins a game more than a forward can go back to D. Doesn't help the case for Steckel and Orr, but it is what it is.
