Can you guys not be so over dramatic about these?

Yesterday Kadri was between Kulemin and MacArthur, the day before Lupul and Kessel weren't even on the same line.

It's likely just for Carlyle to test other players in an offensive role, and vice versa.

It means nothing right now.

I sure hope so. If they don't play the kids on this shortened season, with them being in better form than most of your vets, then this is not a good sign for the future of this franchise. When will young guys get their chance in an extended role if not this year.

If jvr can't play for sat vs montreal, that opens a roster spot for kadri. But this plus carlyle's comments, and the fact that he's eligable to be sent down without going on waivers shows that he's the easiest to take off the team.

You got it.

Don't worry about guys like Connolly, Steckel, and Lombardi being claimed off waivers. NHL teams generally don't gravitate to overpaid useless scrubs.

It's great to hear that Kuly and Grabo look good.
I honestly think that these two will be our main driving force in the beginning of the season. It will take a week or two for Kessel, JVR, Lups and Phaneuf to warm up.

Expect big things from our Russian engine.

I hope so. Kulie I thought would have a great season anyways, so its good that he got a head start. Leo komarov also should be pretty great considering his stint with the marlies and in the khl on a line with ovi.

Our russians are lookin sweeet. One played on a line with malkin and the other on a line with ovechkin and they both did really well

For the love of all things holy, I swear the LeafsTV crew are comedians on purpose. Is there anything more bush league than the Maple Leafs Gallery they keep playing over and over using half the screen? If I see Brownies stash ONE MORE TIME!

I agree, and that extends beyond the game shape issue alone.

Kulemin has been playing along side Malkin and Grabovski beside Datsyuk, two of the Worlds elite players and that can only go to help their development and confidence picking up things in the process to assist the Leafs.

Scrivens to start on saturday. Reimer is far to rusty.

Rotoworld

What a ****ing joke. The tank has started

Kadri looked faster and stronger but Morgan Rielly is something else think he dresses Saturday night.

The one great thing about Rielly, is that from all accounts he's got an NHL ready body.

Extremely strong, was one of the leaders at the draft in a number of areas. This isn't the same thing as calling him up right away because he's had another 1/2 a season under his belt.

I think he gets the 5 game stint to impress.

I think its important to keep in mind that Carlyle has openly said that the 4th line is going to have to play. This could be bad news for Steckel and Brown, especially if Kadri makes the 3rd line.

I would be interested in seeing something like this:

Lupul -- Bozak -- Kessel
JVR -- Grabo -- Kulemin
Macarthur -- Connolly -- Kadri
Frattin -- McClement -- Komarov

For all those wondering about PK units, I would go:
McClement -- Connolly
Grabo -- Kulemin
Bozak -- Komarov

As weak as we are down the middle, one positive is that each center is defensively responsible and is a good skater

Two things.

1. No way in hell Frattin makes this team as a 4th liner. Better off playing top line with the marlies than 8-10 mins a night up here.

2. Brown will be in the lineup. He is the best fourth liner we have... maybe even the best forechecker on the team.

I think you move Connolly. He's redundant, don't think he's an upgrade over Kadri at this point. Would rather have Mcclement on the third line and Steckel on the fourth then to have to watch that lazy guy play night in and night out.

I like the look of this line up. Frattin/Kadri makes more sense to me than Steckal/Brown.

Forward Standouts: Kulemin, Lupul
Defensive Standouts: Kostka, Rielly

Second hour on rink #2 was PP, PK work that was closed to the fans.
