Pretty sure I could help it.If we acquire Hayes while the Rangers get Tarasenko and the Devils get Meier, you can't help but feel the power shift in the division.

That's the funny part. I don't think many of them actually live in Manhattan. Maybe Panarin because that was basically his dream. But even then I can't imagine him liking paying 2-3 million dollars for a 1000 square foot place in Manhattan. Maybe that's why he sometimes plays bad and Rags fans are up his ass about his play?I wonder how many of them actually live "in the city". I know Marc Staal used to live in Connecticut, for instance. I've read before that many of them live in rented homes out in Long Beach or other parts of Long Island, which still has a high cost of living, but not as high as being in Manhattan).
Puljujarvi is rumored/speculated to be waived this weekend. Here comes our big add at the deadline.
Hell no to Kevin Hayes. Having cap space is such an incredibly valuable commodity in this league. Getting Hayes for $7.1M who is signed for THREE years after this one just crushes our chance of re-signing our group of UFAs after the 23-24 season. The only way it's worth it is if we get a top 5 pick.
Trading for Kevin Hayes with $1M retention for this much term is still an extremely negative asset. I just don't see any good to be had there.
Whether we get a good deal on him or not is irrelevant imo. Is Hayes the guy who’s going to put us over the top to hopefully win a cup?I'm not a hell-no on anyone. It simply depends on the price tag. Especially because it's Philly who we're talking about.
Just saw this. Don’t know how reliable the source is

100%I'd rather have tda back with retention
This team needs at a minimum one more potentially game changing forward. We’ve got Aho and sometimes Svech who IMO are those type of players. Potentially Necas if he keeps his level of play up. They need the type of player that’s a threat to score every time their skate touches the ice. The Hurricanes just don’t have enough of that in the top six right now. They’re too easy to match up when not at home.
100%
My general point is, would I take Hayes at full cap hit for Philly's unprotected 1st?
That's an absurd question on par with "Would you give me 12% of your paycheck for the next 3 years in exchange for a <15% chance to win a Ferrari?"
Unless Jarvis magically puts on a few lbs and becomes that player between now and April 13th that doesn’t count for much.Jarvis has the potential to become that type of player but isn't yet. Necas is that player if his current level of play is the new normal.
A nice what-if but No GM is going to give up his shot at Bedard. My general point is, would I take Hayes at full cap hit for Philly's unprotected 1st? You bet. With the kind of cap space that the Canes sport, such uses of cap space, while a big long-shot to say the least, have a small possibility of coming to fruition. I'd even be willing to swing at a cap hit around Trocheck's old cap hit if the return is FC.
I hope Tulsky can come up with a digging ditches/60 metric so the front office can stay away from guys like that.Hayes always came across as the ultimate meat-head to me, even more so than TDA. He just seems like the type of guy that would be digging ditches if he weren’t a professional athlete. He’s like one major injury away from applying for his union card down at the Local 88. If Torts is done with the guy does he have the gray matter to play for RBA?
Yeah, I figured no one takes him off waivers, then we negotiate a trade with either retention or compensation. Like Max.He would never make it to us in the waiver order, but you could do worse as a Kase replacement for this year, Fast replacement for next year.
Kane is going to go to BostonI think our chances on Timo are less than 50% and the Devils are favorites. I think if we can bring in Patrick Kane at a lower cost, jilted by the Rangers and perhaps Devils, we might have some motivated parties. I think Kane believes he's playing for his legacy and would like to go somewhere realistic to compete. I think at this point you worry less about positional fit and more about game changing ability. Kevin Hayes is not that guy. Adam Henrique is not that guy.
