Looks like 16 of his 59 points came off the PP so I assume he saw a healthy does of PP1. I don’t know much about Casey but he seemed to break out a bit last season as a 24 year old. He is a pending RFA after next season with arb rights.

Was mostly on the second unit but saw a.decent amount of first unit time.

Lol classic hf strawman and deflection

- never mentioned anything about ceiling
- I said heinola may slot in over Capo this season.
- Capo was better than heinola last season.
- I don't see which of nhl regular 6 dmen heinola is better than. And the nhl coach staff seem to agree
- our third pair last year for the majority of the year was Samberg-Schmidt which was a fantastic pair. Id play them in a 2nd pair role this season given their effectiveness. Schmidt played well with either samberg or Dillon.

Don't bother responding if you're going to bring up Kova again bc he didn't play on this team last season. my OP - which you've done a fantastic job veering away from - was about heinola slotting in as a regular Dmen on the roster, you know the players that were legitimately on the Jets and playing majority of the games. Not ones on Montreal.
I mean there's nothing more to say... I thought you were doubling down on 'how do we know Heinola is better than any of our roster players' which is a straw dog in itself since he hasn't had any time in the NHL.

I brought up Kova because Heinola is on the verge of being another prospect we lose without actually seeing if we developed them... his agent has already made public comments about it

Samberg-Heinola 'should' be our second pair of the future - I'd rather trade a 31 year old $6m defenceman - who's actually a giveaway machine - and play either Capo or Heinola on the third pairing...

Status quo or Heinola as 7th D is just walking him to UFA in a couple - if the team has changed tack to size - then trade him and stop wasting everyone's time

why do you keep on saying that we are walking him to free agency? he is still on his elc..

If he gets a legit look this year, then we are not... if we leave him in the A as suggested, then we are. I just think if we don't get him games this year, him and his agent will leave at the first chance they get.

if we leave him in the a then he still has 4 more years of control left.. a lot can happen in 5 years, way to early to claim we are walking a player still on his elc to free agency

he better not be just guessing...

Not sure, my friend.

Could be total smoke, who really knows, but the timing of the tweet is interesting and makes you wonder if there potentially could be some Detroit interest in Helle.

Would be nice to drum up some more interest in him if there is no chance of a potential deal with the Jets.

I think it's just he's the next name on the trade bait board, also he's a goalie and Weekes was a goalie.

As I said earlier he played center between Skinner and Tuch when Thompson went down and played very well.
He would definitely be an option at 2C for us and a good one.
Casey was brought into the bigs WAY too early and it hampered his development. He is coming into his own now.
I see him as a 60-65 point 2C.

If he can score 59 on the 3rd line, his 2nd line potential may be higher than that, at least if he gets similar PP opportunity and skilled wingers which we could give him.

He does play C predominantly. There was a small run during the second part of the season where hew played wing to send a message to him.
it wasn't to send a message to him... we couldn't score at all so they decided to stack the top line and see if that work, him and pld also switched who would play center on that line depending on who took the draw

Trade proposal:

To Red Wings: Hellebuyck, Harkins, Stanley

To Jets: Husso, Veleno, Lindström, 1st round pick

I don’t see the Wings trading more 1st round picks yet. They appear to have more drafting to do. Zadina #6 and Rasmussen #9 set them back two years on their rebuild time line IMO.

Honestly who knows I am a bit confused by their plan.

Bleep bloop, this is your automatic "player with a NTC coming to Winnipeg" -reminder.

And even then, looks quite meh for us. Veleno and Lindström do nothing, so it becomes a question of what first we would get. Detroit traded theirs away for DeBrincat, so it would probably take years to get one.

Like PLD to LA, Hellebuyck to NJ Devils has a bit of inevitability to it. Seems like a “when” and “for what” question to be answered, in a trade to the Devils.

If it happens, Helle might get his cup in 2-3 years.

Atleast Rasmussen has turned into a decent third line player. Zadina was a massive bust though. They didn't hit on their other first round picks in Svech and Cholowski in 15 and 16 so don't have much.

We already have Veleno in Namestnikov. Similar type of players that fulfill similar bottom 6 roles. I don't see a need for him.

Not sure Detroit has much of interest that they would be willing to part with.
