He played 54 regular season games spread between San Jose, Tampa, and Winnipeg and he performed well everywhere he went. He outscored the following Jets forwards on a per minute basis 5 on 5:
Dominic Toninato
Adam Lowry
Mason Appleton
Jansen Harkins
Sam Gagner
Morgan Barron
Saku Maenalanen
Kevin Stenlund
Karson Kuhlman
David Gustafsson

His shot metrics put him more in line with Alex Iafallo or Nino Niederreiter than the likes of Karson Kuhlman.
You know who crushed Eyssimont in scoring rates and xGAR rates?

(Hint: Jets just signed for 2 years at NHL minimum).

He also dominates in the flow metrics...

Yes, an actual 3rd liner in Eyssimont is closer to being a 2nd/3rd line tweener like Iafallo or Niedderreiter than a replacement level player in Karson Kuhlman or a player who shouldn't have even had a sniff at the NHL last year in Saku Maenalanen. Shocking.
Your basing your entire argument on a 54 game sample size and asserting that it is a fact that he will maintain that level of play forever.

I've seen far too many 4th line players play well over a small sample size only to fade into obscurity to believe it.

I'm not going to waste anymore time arguing about a 4th line player.

I don't believe Eyssimont's metrics would continue at that rate if he was given more ice time. Just my own opinion.

Probably not, but he averaged ~13 mins/GP with San Jose and ~11 with Tampa. His numbers put him with lofty comparables that aren't at all realistic.

Another player that probably shouldn't have been behind guys like Appleton, Kuhlman, or Maenalanen on the depth chart. Kuhlman at points was playing 1st/2nd line time inexplicably.

Kuhlman's usage was baffling at times.

He was living proof of the "guy is always in motion, ergo he is playing effectively" coaching blind spot.

Of the remaining UFA’s, I’d like to see the Jets sign Cal Foote for some RHD depth, or maybe Ethan Bear. I’d also like to see the Jets bring back E Svechnikov.

Mild surprise that Barron filed, I don't think he has much leverage. None of Samberg, Stanley, or Chisholm really have arbitration leverage where you're only allowed to present boxcar stats I think?

Meh sets a deadline for a deal. I don't have an issue with him filling it. I doubt it gets to it as his camp have very little case.

Yeah, it's a tiny amount of leverage in his case. It might ease some anxiety that it can't go all the way to training camp at least.

The incessant hand-wringing on here over a 13th F or an 8th D never ceases to amuse me

"Yeah, but he has .09 higher pt/60...."

When a guy plays 10 minutes a night, that's about 6 points per year.

Last year the Jets players put up a total of 691 points. Eyssimont had 5 of those 691 points in 26 games and people here are bitching about "losing him for nothing"

Yeah, that's why we got bounced in 5. We missed Eyssimont

Leafs looking to add toughness to their D.

Wonder what they'd do for Dillon or Stanley

If it's toughness they want they probably won't find it with Stanley. The immobile face puncher role is already filled by Reaves. I'm not sure they could fit Dillon under the cap and the deal probably becomes unworkable from there - the price for a cap dump is probably not worth it if they're adding Dillon and anyone good means the Jets are probably adding to move Dillon.

We lost Eyssimont to waivers for Kuhlman.

Just to beat the dead horse again.

Eyssimont worked his ass off to make up for his limited talent. Kuhlman would have to work much much harder. Honestly, our pro scouts seem about on par with the Islanders, so I don't really care if they screwed us out of our 18th forward who we mistakenly believed was better than our 15th. Neither really has a place on a competitive NHL club.

Tampa Bay, who in the past 4 years has won two cups and lost in the finals once, disagrees.

I wonder what the percentage of players who file for arbitration get to it.
Not a ton, it's a set deadline for the most part. In general though if it goes to arbitration the player is usually not long for the team.

People really need to get past this, the guy is a 4th liner at best and is not something to get worked up about. What the hell is with Jets fans and getting overly attached to guys who can barely hold down an NHL roster spot.

The way some fans are refusing to let go would make you think the Jets lost a 40 goal scorer on waivers or something.
When we waive the next Marty St. Louis then it will be cause for concern. Until then just move on.

Since the Jets 2.0 were in the league, they are responsible for 5.54% of all filings.

Since 2008, only 3 teams have had 5 players ( the most ) file for arbitration in one year... Calgary, St.Louis, and Winnipeg ( twice )

He wasn't among the busiest last year though. We were an above average defensive team. If we improve on that and I think we will as our forwards have been augmented with better defensive forwards we may not need him or whoever to steal games like Helle had to circa 2020-2022.
That's my thought too. I think we will be even better this year defensively with another tc of systems and some new defensively capable forwards.

I could see us top 3rd defensively this year. That should allow us to be successful with a lesser goalie. The reason we scraped into the playoffs last year is we saw a bizarre offensive drought for a huge part of the back half of the season. Scoring should be more balanced this season to which could insulate us from that.

I can't see us going into the season as is. 37 is most likely gone which means we'll have assets coming back. We have too many nhl defensemen right now so I think there has to be one or 2 moves there.

I want to see who is in camp before I really start considering what our chances are.
