Welp.
That's a lot of moving pieces.
Copp trade was absolute bananas.In hindsight that Copp trade has to be one of the better rental returns in recent years, esp since Copp was not a "big name player" like a Lindholm, Hanifin or Guentzel.
Habs 2nd > Hurricane's 2ndEquivalent return from the Jets would be Habs 2nd, Chibrikov, Rashevsky and another prospect (can't seen an equivalent of Cruz Lucius in the Jets system).
I think I saw somewhere that they were looking for prospects over picksHabs 2nd > Hurricane's 2nd
Chibrikov >= Ponomaryov
Cruz ~= Rashevsky
Koivunen > whatever our final piece would be.
Pittsburgh didn't get any blue chippers, but they got some high ceiling prospects. Surprised they couldn't get a straight 1st.
Yeah, those prospects are nice. Been a big fan of Ponomaryov for awhile, Cruz has been looking great in the NCAA, Koivunen is putting up ridiculous numbers for a 20 year old in Liiga (haven't watched him). Getting Ty Smith was a nice little depth pickup for Carolina as well, similar to DeAngelo without the extra baggage.I think I saw somewhere that they were looking for prospects over picks
I'm trying to wrap my head around what Pittsburgh is going to look like after the sid/geno era and I can't see anythingYeah, those prospects are nice. Then the cycle conitinues. The core 3 are gone, they dwell in the basement for 5-7 years. Get a generational talent. Rinse, repeat.I'm trying to wrap my head around what Pittsburgh is going to look like after the sid/geno era and I can't see anything
It's gonna be long and painful road for that franchise. They may have to bottom out again... not that it's looking like they have much of a choice
They got some pretty nice pieces in this deal I think. Ponomaryov can play in the NHL now in my opinion. Koivunen has put up very impressive numbers in Liiga this season as a 20 year old, Cruz has had a better NCAA career than Chaz. Considering Pittsburgh refused to let Carolina negotiate an extension I feel like they must have discussed the possibility of Guentzel coming back as a free agent.I'm trying to wrap my head around what Pittsburgh is going to look like after the sid/geno era and I can't see anything

I also believe he had some kind of trade protection, which might have affected his valueHonestly was expecting a much bigger return for Guentzel. The 1st rounder is conditional, likely going to be a 2nd rounder in the end (Carolina has a good team but odds are they don’t make it to the finals). And that lengthy list of names going to Pittsburgh doesn’t include any super high end prospects. I think GM’s just aren’t that interested in mortgaging several years of their team’s future for a rental, simple as that. And frankly I don’t blame them. The initial rumoured asking prices on some of these big names were unrealistic.
Is this tweet from an actual source.
If so this is amazing.
Please trade him to the blue jackets.
Did everyone forget about Bunting … Calder finalist with 63 points and Dubas likes him. This is the 3rd time Dubas acquired Bunting.Honestly was expecting a much bigger return for Guentzel. I had my eye on him weeks ago as a target. Interesting.Hearing rumblings that the Jets are in on Mikael Granlund. A potential 2RW option in San Jose that has 38 points in 48 games this year.
