Door number 3) Vilardi is healthy and Cole re-finds his game and then neither of the othwr two are in the top 6.

It's amazing that so many have lost faith in Cole getting his game back. We have 21 games left and I expect if line 2 lays a couple of more duds he's back up there.
I haven't lost faith in Cole - I just think Names is a better player right now - especially in the system they are playing.

I am not impressed with paying any of the prices being paid today (other than Byram for Middlestat but we don't have a d-man like Byram whose reputation exceeds his impact). Felt already uncomfortable with moving a 1st for Monahan. Hopefully Chevy doesn't give into peer pressure and make a desperate move despite many urging him to.

Forcing Bowness to play Ehlers top line is the best deadline acquisition Chevaldayoff can make and it costs nothing!
FFS glue yourself to Portage avenue outside CLC to get Bones to play Ehlers on the top line already lol

Not even at deadline day yet and we already have seven teams ruled out of legitimately winning the Cup.

I swear if we reach an unprecedented 17th season in a row with an asterisk champ …
The answer is simple IMO. In the playoffs you can't dress a 20 man roster for any one game that exceeds the salary cap for that season.

Third team helping out Vegas. Apparently still in on Guentzel too and can fit him. Lol
lol. OMG.

It’s days like this I would love to be a Vegas fan.

Their management team are amazing at playing the game.

They will get Guentzel and still make another add after that. Cap circumvention in the NHL has gone way best ridiculous.
Jets have cap space. Don’t even need to “cheat”

Copp is the only one I remember. His last game was March 21st. I think it took him a week to sign with the jets. @KingBogo

Edit: confirmed the dates. - took a full week. Signed on the 28th.

The recent example of it taking much longer would be Gautier - he wanted to sign with phill last March - team said no. And well, the rest is history.

Not sure about Knies.

Edit 2: knies last game was April 8, signed April 9. So it happens. I imagine there was a rush to get him in the line up as the leafs wanted to play him. Could depend on how late mcgroarty goes and how bad jets want to play him. If at all.
Sean Farrell was another one from last season. Ryan McAllister. Luke Hughes. Mackie Samoskevich.

No disrespect to Sean Farrell, but that’s the epitome of a boiler plate ELC, and someone that doesn’t have a whole lot of game breaker expectations. I’m sure Montreal didn’t even really care about burning a year of ELC.

If the jets had him in the NCAA this year would we be talking about signing him for the playoffs?

Wouldn't say I'm a fan but I admire what they're doing there.
Classic Thomas Brian Cringle from Winnipeg.

I don't think he'd be signed for our playoffs, I think he'd play a couple meaningless games when the seeds are set and then help the Moose for their playoffs. Getting him in early is important, the longer you let top NCAA prospects be unsigned the closer they get to being able to walk for nothing.

Don't trade for the sake of a trade.

We're as good as were going to be.

99 percent of those teams signing up for the Tank Years are doing just and only that.

If someone acquires E Karlson they will instantly be a loser team like all his teams, how many 1st's is that worth.

So these people propose that Winnipeg which can't sign free agents spend critical pieces for rentals? Sell the farm for a couple of months of player and then if you get knocked out of the playoffs then what? The players gone, the future assets and prospects gone all over 1 playoff run, what is left is bitterness of losing pieces that can help you for multiple years for 2 months of rentals. Most of these people would fail the marshmallow experiment so bad.

I love that the marshmallow experiment is mentioned. Anyone not aware, you should look it up.
