I do think it's funny how I predicted Monahan would end up a Jet.

But the only thing the Jets might consider adding is depth on the bottom lines and potentially the press box. Otherwise, I think we're all set.

Luke Schenn wouldn't be a bad pick-up.

I think we still add a RHD. I think Chevy is okay with the defense if all healthy , but we are way do vulnerable on the backend with any kind of injury problems.

Yeah I think we need this too. Candidly, I don’t see our current team getting past Dallas in a best-of-7, and I think we will end up playing them in the second round if it’s not in the first round. I also wouldn’t mind a top-6 winger addition, for the following two reasons: (1) Perfetti not quite able to fill that role yet consistently (I thought he was there earlier in the season, but now I think he may be a year away from consistently fulfilling that role); (2) Bones’ inexplicable reluctance to keep Ehlers & Scheifele together on the top line.

I'd be surprised if Chevy does anything further. Status quo me thinks.

He should tell Bones to keep Ehlers on the top line so that he doesn’t have to try and get another top-6 winger.

Bones mentioned quite a few guys were banged up and or not well. It would be a good time to IR one or two, if possible, and see what Heinola or Capo can do. Some guys might need to heal and even rest a little if they make a deep run.

Schmidt has had some good games, he's banged up I believe, why not rest him a bit. I could see testing Malott or Viel on the 4th line. Both have had great seasons so far.

This is assuming Chevy doesn't make a move. But we know Chevy loves having extra defenseman.

Have to think Stanley and the 2nd pick are worth something.
Mallory or Viel shouldn’t sniff the NHL

It's entirely possible that Chevy and co. are happy with the roster as currently constructed calling the addition of Monahan there deadline move
Probably best to stand pat than trade for rentals honestly.

Right now, we're the second best team by pts% in the NHL. Whatever we do, it's not going to significantly change our chance at hoisting a cup.

I understand and respect your point - and disagree with it strongly.

Monahan moved our pp from 26th to 4th in the league.

Additions could significantly change the make up of the team. If we make an add and the second line becomes ehlers Konecny monahan we could have production of 2 first lines which would completely change how we use the third and 4th lines and how they’re composed.

That being said - I’m not for trading away our entire future for rentals - Konecny isn’t getting traded nor do I think I’d want him - just an example.

Standing pat as a gm can be completely negligent - especially considering this is the best year the jets have ever had. Now is the time to roll some dice.

You may be right, but damn he looked good coming down there on the weekend potting one.
Agreed. I’m not saying I agree with bones on that. Just relaying what he’s said about him when moving perfetti to RW.

I’m 100% on the ehlers ms vilardi top line train.

Yeah I am okay with standing pat. Wouldn't mind adding another D to push Stanley down the depth chart but the Jets aren't a club that can burn away futures for one run.

Not tiny eyes!!

Not really. It depends on what kind of upgrade we can get, how much of an upgrade it would be over internal options and what the cost is.

I think our group is really strong.

Adding doesn't always equal better.
were one injury away from a name/iaffalo top six and since we have vilardi that seems very likely
edit: also perfetti/monahan/ehlers

I dont necessarily mind Namestnikov in the top 6
he's a guy that can give you a few good games at a top6 level but shouldn't be there long term and that still doesn't solve the 1 injury away from iaffalo in the top 6

I think Chevy will make a couple small deals before TD. Likely middle round draft pick for depth D-man
