murat said he heard were only going to be doing small moves
seravalli said that we kept tabs on tanev and other players gives us an indication that were still in the mix to add

Not surprising really. We already used a 1st round pick which is significant. At some point you have to trust your team.

Not a fan of Chychrun. Always seemed to be less than the sum of his parts. Just leaves you expecting more than he delivers.

Maybe PLD vibes is a strong word but has been on the block for 4 straight years now, so not sure how much leadership ability and winning attitude he brings to the table.

I really likes the idea last year but I've soured on it a lot now that he is ready to turn the page on the Sens after the significant investment they made in him.

lol, why not demand McDavid? Buffalo would be waiting for you to tell them what the main piece of the trade is.

A lot of parallels in the careers of these two actually. Mittlestadt finally breaking through these past two years after his share of struggles at Perfetti's age.

Not saying it's a 1-for-1, but if Buffalo dealt Mittlestadt it would be because they want to shed some future cap and replace him with a cost controlled top six F or top four D.

That said, he has been on teams that were, and are, poor. Ottawa has a bright future but can't seem to get traction. It does make me wonder how Chychrun would do were a better supporting cast and a coherent system. I liken it to Monahan whereby he was back-to-back with franchises that were struggling on (Mtl) and off (Cgy) the ice, and here he is producing on a good team with a good system.

I’d be surprised if there wasn’t another move.

Don’t think it will be huge. Don’t think it will be small.

Either a 2nd/3rd line winger or top 4 d. I’m expecting one more move.

Would be nice to push Pionk down to 3rd and Schmidt to press box.

we should be looking to add in the tier under buchnevich/guentzel

Agreed. That Montreal 2nd rounder and the cap space we have left should allow us to make a meaningful move. Like you said, perhaps not Buchnevich or Guentzel, but there are plenty of decent 2nd line calibre wingers available below those two players and also lots of second paring D.

I expect a RD upgrade for Schmidt but that is it.
I see Boqvist and Peeke available* on RHD from Columbus. Both have a year or two after this one.

Might fit the bill?

Also Dante Fabbro seems to be chalking up the healthy scratches. Might be good depth.

Wouldn't think any of them would break the bank?

They are both not good. When I was watching CBJ earlier in the season Peeke was their worst d-man many nights, I think of him as Stanley tier. Boqvist isn't great defensively and doesn't have a good contract for what he brings.

I think the Jets should aim higher than them.

What do you all think about the Sens Mathieu Joseph, has speed plays with some bite and can chip in a goal here or there. Signed for another 2 years under 3m.

Bones mentioned quite a few guys were banged up and or not well. It would be a good time to IR one or two, if possible, and see what Heinola or Capo can do. Some guys might need to heal and even rest a little if they make a deep run.

Schmidt has had some good games, he's banged up I believe, why not rest him a bit. I could see testing Malott or Viel on the 4th line. Both have had great seasons so far.

This is assuming Chevy doesn't make a move. But we know Chevy loves having extra defenseman.

Have to think Stanley and the 2nd pick are worth something.

He’s gotta have at least one more up his sleeve.
During his between periods interview on Louis Riel Day, he mentioned that there were some internal options that they wanted to look at, if they couldn't find what they needed in trades.

My impression was he caught himself a bit like he didn't want to say that.

It did seem like it meant Heinola, and maybe Lambert/Chibrikov.

how many times have we heard this supposed internal additions statement from Chevy esp. when it comes to heinola? i'll see it when i believe it. heinola has not played an NHL game all year, & all of a sudden he's supposed to be some sort of notable addition for the POs? Highly doubtful. this isn't a Makar level player being drop-shipped for a PO run.

even lambert & chibrikov; just does not seem like chevy's or the Jet's MO, and really if Perfetti can't find big ice-time on the Jets i doubt these guys will.

yeah. I got the impression as he said it that his brain was thinking "fat chance Bones goes for that".
