Gawanke will start playing for Adler Mannheim coached by Dallas Eakins as predicted. At least Mannheim local Newsapers are already talking about it.

Today's article said that "NHL Coach Eakins doesn't understand why he can't make an NHL roster because of all his AHL points."

I had a good chuckle... They sure love to ignore the fact he's awful defensively 😂. I assume it was the exact same in finnish Media with Niku.

At the end of the day, with 33 games remaining, the Jets are in 8th place overall in the league, only 7 points out of first overall. We have at least 2 games in hand on all of the 7 teams ahead of us overall. The Jets have a 11 point cushion from falling out of the playoffs and two games in hand on those teams at the cut-off line.

Boston is tied for first overall, and they have had 2 - 4 game losing streaks, and 2 - 3 game losing streaks already this season.

Lets all just take a deep breath for a moment. Start fresh on Saturday. The sun did rise in the East this morning despite our angst.

I'm not really sure what your point is - directed to the "relax guys we're still nicely positioned in standings".

Sure we are. I don't think people here (involving me) start being concernded about missing the playoffs. We start being concerned about going on a similar run like last year, ending up in the playoffs, sure, but far from a confident group, without home advantage, having to play a top team in the first round.

If those parts "fall into place" again in a negative way, just like last year, how exactly do you expect us to get by Vegas or Colorado come round 1? Let alone go on a significant playoff run. You need things clicking and we're on tracking of having the clock fall apart instead of having clockwork run smoothly.

It is' about losing your path. It is about forgetting the things that led to you being the best team in the league. It is about all the things Bones flipped the table on during his playoff elimination presser.

Sure Boston isn't perfect either. And I don't think peopl are panicing about the fact that the team isn't allowed to lose multiple games in a row.

But is Boston atrocious on special teams or struggling to score more than one goal a game over more than a fluke two or three games?

I know what you are saying for sure. No teams are perfect. Boston did recently have a 4 game stretch where they gave up 17 goals.

I don't think that the Jets are "forgetting the things that led to you being the best team in the league" - to me it is focus and execution. Everyone has rough spells and times where nothing goes right. Appleton doesnt shoot intentionally into the crest of the goalie for his one shot in the game, but it is just what happens.

I don't get too worked up on things I have no control over. Nobody expected the Jets to be so strong (record wise) over the first 50 games.

I do agree with you and many others that the Power Play is the biggest problem with this squad. It's putrid. It needs an enema. It needs a Buff on the point. Hope Chevy can find a solution. I'll be watching the playoffs with or without the Jets making it past a round. Really hope to see you at Portage and Main come June for an epic celebration - but in all likelyhood - that will not happen and may not ever in my lifetime (ask a 60 year old Leaf fan!).

Yeah I see it this way as well. Baseline system play is keeping us in all the games. Confidence, focus, execution are all tougher to dial in consistently like we had been for a month there.

Hopefully we can get those vibes back before too long

Do you really think we should be adding after losing 6 in a row?
LOL yes because 5 games = an entire season.

If we could get rid of Appleton who is next to useless I'd do that in a heartbeat. Tarasenko shouldn't cost much and further allows flexibility in the top 9 and in case of injury

team now is 19th in offense, 25th in PP and 25th in PK.
Our pk is getting better!

There's a reason they say the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all of sport. First you have to be able to acquire the right players - either by d and d or shrewd trading. Then, you have to be able to fit that under the cap.

You have to find a coaching staff that has great ideas for systems to counter other teams. They have to be able to adjust both in game and game to game. They have to deal with 23 personalities.

Then you have to grind through 82 games in a physically demanding sport, punishing your joints, getting whacked by sticks, pucks, bodies.

After all that you have to run the gauntlet of 4 7 game series with no more than a day or twos rest between games. You have to overcome injuries, while avoiding ones to your key players.

You have to hope that your goalie gets hot

You have to hope that your team is on a confident high, and can overcome obstacles and setbacks.

It really is crazy when you think about it.

not surprised. the Jets quickly dealt for Monahan right after. I do wonder who the Jets were dangling as far as prospects go, if it got that far.

The list of prospects that Chevy has dealt at the TDL or in other NHL-player trades (ie: excluding N. Smith refusing to sign) is a v short one.

It didn't need to be some kind of near mirror image of the deal that ended up being done. It could have included a roster player or two - or not. It could have included more picks - or not. Or maybe it could have been mostly prospects. Jets offered a package with a certain value. Flames chose the package Van offered for their own reasons.

Maybe that explains why Eakins couldn't make it as an NHL coach. :naughty:

Buffalo apparently shopping Mittelstadt. He's from Minnesota, could have been a longer term solution for 2C.

I doubt Chevy is still looking though, since he's dealt our 1st.

50 games into the season and he finally figures out they need a goalie?
Comrie is their highest paid goalie at 1.8m, what did they expect? That shitty GM should be fired. Wasted another season with no playoffs.

Chevy should ante up and get Mitts. He's their best player and they want to trade him?
LB, Montreal's 2nd and Nino for Mitts.

As pissed as I get at the Jets somedays, I am glad I am not cheering for some Franchises.

Imagine this summer you had a chance at Helly and it would have likely cost you Mitts ++Prospects/Picks and now you likely have make a move for Gibson
And won't make the playoffs.

like you said w/o a 1st Chevy will have to probably deal one of his recent 1st rd prospects - which he hasn't ever done. not sure if we are a match w/ Buffalo given they want a goalie
