Why not at least give it one shift?

Chevy has made moves that have resulting in plenty of crow consumption around here

Winter is Coming
Lindholm. 1st. Roster player. Defensive prospect. C prospect.

1st. Iafallo or Barron. Salo or Ville plus C prospect for a rental.

Monahan appears to have better value.

Not only do we get a 2 center but have cash to go get someone else also. Monahan getting paid Appleton money.

The late 1st don’t matter. I hope we move montreals 2nd also. Time to go for it. Altho that 1st could help in 4 years, the team is winning now.

All these other names thrown out would prob require something that hurt going back. A late 1st don’t hurt. I actually think Monahan is a solid pickup who could fit long term here. The other thing here, maybe some of the guys we had interest in didn’t want to be here. Monahan does. That’s an important factor.

Um, we did just upgrade on Appleton. It's possible he just got pushed to the PB (or Kupari)

I could see

Nino Lowry Iafallo
Barron Names Kupari

As our bottom 6
Really surprised Pionk is showing that poorly, feel like he's playing his best hockey in years

Good point.

I don't like this deal today. But I might love in a couple of weeks, or months.

I was hoping for something better but now that it is done I'm cheering for Monahan. He will be playing for next year's contract so Go Sean Go!
I had the exact same initial feeling as you but I've really warmed up to it.

Good post.

As soon as the trade went down between VAN-CAL, it was pretty clear to me that it didn't make a ton of sense for the Jets.

I don't think the Jets really wanted to touch their roster, whether it be Barron or Iafallo, and instead wanted to add to their line-up when talking acquiring a rental. There was no Kuzmenko type of "wild-card" piece to make a deal really appetizing for both teams. A player with potential future trade value for the Flames, and a cap-dump of a player in the coaches' doghouse for the Canucks.

Plus, I would imagine the Flames would have had a ton of interest in Salo, which is pretty much a deal breaker for the Jets. They simply cannot afford to really give him up unless something solid with term would be coming back due to the nature of the RHD depth situation in the organization. He's a very key piece and one of the only solutions at this present time for that position in the future.

I would have taken Lindholm over Monahan, undoubtedly, like most, but the price certainly matters, especially when we are talking pure rentals. I would want nothing to do with a package even comparable to what it likely would have costed the Jets to get a Lindholm deal over the finish line.

The Jets still have ammunition (picks/prospects) to make a play for a RD if they so choose, as well.

Another thing, he's been pretty productive in the playoffs with 21 points in 30 games. So playoff experience is another plus here.

Chevy name dropped Ville as being healthy a couple of times when referencing the Chisholm move. Also referenced not wanting 8 dmen. I wonder if Stanley is in play ik order to get Ville back up.

Pivoting from the Monahan trade, what's our next trade? Surely this can't be Chevy's only move, we have a lot of cap space left so lets use it IMO. Lets go big, 1-2 more nice players plz

Another center? Jenner? Adam H?
Top 4 RHD upgrade?
Depth on defense and/or forwards?

I wonder if any team would want Iafallo at the deadline. He hasn't impressed for a while now and knowing that Appleton won't be benched I feel like he's kind of an odd man out. Chevy really likes Kupari and if Iafallo and Appleton are in the lineup Kupari won't be.

Interesting. I'm not sure what the market would be for him around the deadline with another year on his deal. He seems like a player who's contributions we could replace for a much lower cap hit.

I definitely think Chevy has his eye on a dmen. We have 6 NHL caliber LD but could use some cover at RD.

Iafallo and Appleton are better than Kupari so probably not.

I wouldn't be opposed to retaining if it gives him value. It's only for a year and by the time the big decisions need to be made it'll be off the books.

Didn't say they weren't.

I don't think they'll bench Better and trustworthy players over one that is not.

Snap him up before someone else jumped on him. Calculated bet. Could he have been had for cheaper? Probably. Someone would have paid that price eventually.

Monahan 100% is a plan B move, but at least he's a center, not the one we all wanted but he's a body at 2C. Lets just hope he doesn't fold like a cheap suit when the physical play starts. I want to see the next moves, Monahan trade isn't our top choice but he's better then nothing, now make some other moves plz chevy.

I specifically said they wouldn't be benched.

Sorry I misread your post. When you referred to Appleton not being benched and Iafallo being the odd man out, thought you meant as iafallo being benched.

I don't think anything happens to iafallo tbh. For the same reasons you noted why he has not been great as of late what are you going to even get for him? Also they usually don't ever trade out of a roster player when in a PO position (think only Lemieux?)

And if Kupari isn't in the lineup it means we have better players ahead of him, which is a real good thing.
