People do the same thing the other direction saying that that early 2nd is like a late 1st. On one hand you are trying to minimize it. On the other they are trying to maximize it. Im guessing there were other guys Chevy was looking in on and maybe the price was too high and/or they werent available. And lets not forget guys weve been talking about like Nelson, Jenner, Giroux all have full/partial no movement clauses. Its possible the price for Henrique was higher too.

I mean the cap hit for Monahan was 1.9M, IIRC. I still think if the Jets want to do something, they are in a position to do so.

Still have picks and prospects to play with, and doesn't mean another team won't be retaining salary on a piece in the next deal.

He's definitely had elite offensive ability in the past. His linemates will be better on the Jets.

I haven't watched him enough to know how well he's playing lately but he's a strong depth 2C.

I almost want to see Namestikov on the wing on the 3rd instead of apple. Move apple to the 4th.

1st+ for what will be around our 10th-11th best forward, on an expiring deal.

It almost looks like Chevy is above average at building things, and f***ing sucks at managing his creations.

Mmm he's definitely our second best center. 35 in 49 games is solid for a 2C on a bottom team. Let's see how he adapts to our system and playing with better players.

He wasn't a player I thought of, but I'm hoping for the best.

Yeah I didn’t want Monahan Mtl took us to the cleaners regardless if it’s a late first those assets should of been better spend I hope I eat my crow and they can get the conditional pick but this is an L

I was hoping we'd get Mittelstadt, but Mono is close, and will add about 60 points a season. We need this extra depth and scoring. It's quite likely Mittelstadt and maybe Giroux, the asking price was too high. From what I understand he's a UFA at the end of the season, so he may be resigned if he fits in, and if not, we lose him. Cost matters.

Hope it works out well for the Jets. It's better than standing pat at this point when you have a chance to compete for the Cup.
