Rumor: All Purpose Trade Proposals, Speculation and Rumours - 2023/24

The team going into next year is absolutely a better team than last years team on paper.

Vilardi, Nino, Iafallo, Namestnikov, Kupari > PLD, Wheeler, Stenlund, Big Sak, Gagner, Toninato etc. Maybe you could argue a bit worse scoring points but miles better defensively.

If we lose Scheifele and Hellebuyck for absolutely nothing that helps us next year? Yeah, much worse.

If they go into this year with Scheifele and Hellebuyck the Jets are making the playoffs. Whether or not they should do that is a very valid question

Could be. Could not be. Similarly though, are we anywhere near as good as the top 10 teams even if we keep all our players? I liked the PLD trade for value (though not really for direction). But Vilardi and Iaffalo were 7th and 9th in points for a team that, while better than us, weren't exactly setting the world on fire. Nino, similarly, is fine. All three should probably be middle 6ers.

Other than the off chance that Helle catches on fire for multiple rounds, do we have any chance at getting past the 2nd round? Do we even have a particularly good chance at getting past the 1st? We need to either be better than Dallas and Colorado (who presumably won't be crippled beyond recognition), or beat out the top team in the pacific as a wild card.

We are unlikely a top 10 team as well but that is the nature of it. We are going to be in that 10-22 range. We aren't going to rebuild no matter what we think so we might as well at least try.

Yeah I was all aboard the rebuild train but the PLD trade makes this more of a slight retool. If we can keep those two the retool is better if we don't the retool is worse.

Maybe that’s the wrong word. I remember Tampa and Avs sucking there for a year getting a high pick, drafting a good player then getting on with things. And if I’m not mistaken supplemented their stock pile by trading duchene that became makar? Scheif or Helly could return something

Colorado started their rebuild back in 2009 when they first fell for Duchene. They drafted in the top 3 in 2011, 2013 and top 10 in 2015 and 16. So the bulk of there team was in place. Even if you take it from Mackinnon in 2013 it was 5 years post him that they became a consistient playoff team/contender.

Hey whats wrong with that! Lake of the woods is not for everyone you know. ;)

It would be interesting to know what the motivation of TNSE is. Do they need to try to remain competitive for financial reasons or are they just taking a page out of the Flames/Flyers/Wild/ book where you run it back every year and are always competing with the “just get in and anything can happen” plan.

Winning it all isn’t for everyone I guess.

I meant living chq to chq! Lol
Yup Chevy does Chevy things. Makes good deals but stuck in no man’s land.

Usually the simplest answer is the best answer... I try not to let it get me down too much. I'm sure they don't see it quite as binary as we do

ya, it’s pretty easy to win it all. You’re bad for a year or two, then straight to the top!

In Winnipeg, it’s far more likely to be a Buffalo than a New York..

Not that I put a ton of value in Pagnotta, but he’s noting again that BOS are eyeing up Scheifele as a Bergeron/Krejci replacement.

If we could have Swayman+ coming back for Scheifele, Dillon for example, I think that would set us up well to trade Helle for a young top C prospect.

For me Pagnotta has usurped a lot of 'insiders'. He seems solid, and Chef to Bruins has always made sense to me, pretty well around pieces you have mentioned.

David Pagnotta and Mike McIntyre have both linked Scheifele to Boston.

Swayman, Lysell and a pick for 55 and Big Stan? I think they need bodies, but not expensive ones like Dillon.

They actually need forwards more than D, so Harkins, maybe another guy? Appleton or Gus?

Oh Dayum haha

It pleases me to know this

Chevy did mention that Bro is here for tandem w Helle

Sounds like they’re going to presume he’s back and take a run at extending

Same with Scheifele
I don’t think he would come out and publicly say Brossoit is here because he’s trying to get a Helleybuyck trade completed before the start of the season.

We don't need Fredric any longer given what we now have in our bottom 6. I'd want Dubrusk and Swayman

They have Nemec coming up and they would get a 1st and 2nd rounder as well.
It'd give us that 1RHD.

JMo Pesce
Samberg Schmidt
Dillon DD
Heinola

That's a substantial upgrade to last year's D.
It also allows for better pairings.
Nemec be a devil...

Going All In has consequences as well, you end up like Columbus for a few years. Trying to be close to the top ten consistently gives you better odds in the long run. Every now and then you have a good run ( no injuries, luck, great ELC deals, TDL moves, hot goalie ). The presidents trophy winner rarely wins it.

I'd do Carlo plus Debrusk plus Swayman for 55 And Dillon or Stanley

If Boston wants to throw in Frédéric ok but I'm not demanding him

McIntyre isn't a source tho. Pagnotta certainly is
Scheif and Stanley for Carlo and Swayman - I think that trade would get done

I could see nemec to us for Helle but that would be straight up I think. I think tho, Mercer is more reasonable as they can't pay everyone and prob need guys like nemec on elcs to make it work cap wise

Swayman almost certainly has to be coming back.

Then after that there are some interesting pieces. Carlo, DeBrusk, Geekie.

Carlo has a 10 team no trade that he just submitted yesterday though. Odds we are on it?

I think we could even try and get a conditional pick out of it.

I can't see them sending us their 1 year removed 2nd overall pick. Doubt they are keen on moving Mercer either.
