Would Eriksson Ek be available? Good player, good contract with term. Not sure Minne would have any interest in moving him, at all. No clause stopping a trade.

What about someone like Zegras, or too much hype not enough substance there? Decent contract with 2 years left after this one. Having a shit season, so maybe some "buy low" potential. No clauses either.

Yakov Trenin has always intrigued me, but I guess he's more life another Lowry rather than a 2nd line centre. He'd be more a rental with his contract up this year.

All are left handed.
The Wild would NEVER trade a player as good as Eriksson Ek to a hated division rival such as the Jets.

They would, but I wonder if KFC is one of those fellas who really likes what he likes and is less fussed about the money than he is about the where and the who of his playing destination.

I know nothing about him, but he seems a bit Buff-like in how he views his job, where he wants to ply it, and what conditions suit him best. Maybe he yearns for home and pulls a Copp, but I can also see him taking a little less to stay if he has faith in the direction of travel. And as a pure scorer w/ limited D who is not an analytics darling he may have fewer suitors than a Lindholm, etc.

I wouldn't call him Buff-like in any way, but he does appear to be content playing in Wpg. I have no info on how he feels about the money but my guess is that he will continue to be content here as long as he feels he is being paid fairly. Just assumption of course but if correct, that has significant value.

He might have fewer TD suitors than a Lindholm but if he was available, not shopped, just available, in the off-season there would be a lot of interest.

Not saying he should be available, but he is 4th in G scoring from his draft class. It was an exceptionally strong class. The 3 who are ahead of him have all played a lot more games than he has.

idk about definitely.... nino w/ a similar cap-hit, slightly lower stats & imo higher name-value went for a 2nd last year. i think that'll be around what he goes for.

if you want a cheaper & maybe better than vatrano, go for Sprong from Detroit (if they fall out of the POs)

I mentioned this to @None a few days ago, the Ducks Frank Vatrano seem to be exactly what this team is looking for the second line if you want to move Vilardi to centre. Another year left at 3.65 would definitely cost a 1st plus

For sure cheaper, but Vatrano is a much better player both this year and previous years, a 2nd would be perfect but i have a feeling someone throws a first for him if he even is available.

last 2 years
vatrano: 75 pts in 129 gp (17:14 ATOI),
sprong: 77 pts in 114 gp (12:01 ATOI)

PP pts pretty much the same. 5v5 pts/60 Sprong is nearly 2x more efficient.

idk about either defensive games. im gonna guess sprong's isn't good given he's been a suitcase and generally playing v low minutes. but hard to argue with his production given low mins and role, and has been on the right side of the 5v5 goal-share. what are the chances Vatrano is seeing 17+ minutes here? probably not v likely.

From a goal scoring point of view which is something this team needs on the second line I think Vatrano is the better choice, jmo

who is he bumping out of the top-6 from ehlers, perfetti, connor, vilardi? he won't be seeing 17+ mins here.

He doesn’t have to play top 6. He’s a BIG upgrade on Appleton on Lowry’s line. From what I remember, he’s a hard forechecking player with a scoring touch. He’d make the Lowry line that much more dangerous.

I know the chances are slim and none but could you imagine Crosby coming here to try and win a Cup ? Talk about good luck getting playoff tickets, this city would be going crazy. I know i would be.
If it were a legit possibility, put on your GM hat. What are you legitimately offering to bring him here and keep him away from the Avalanche?

OK? Totally aware, and he likely won't be top 6 and probably would be in our bottom 6, which is what I've been saying. He's getting 17+ mins a night which he probably doesn't get here. So, look at his stats per 5v5 TOI. Then look at Appleton's, & Sprong's.

If you want a bit more scoring punch out of your bottom 6, at probably lesser trade cost personally would go for the latter player (if available).

I don't mind Vatrano tbh. But more In a 3rd rd pick range than a 1st or MTLs 2nd.

I’d give a fair amount more if it meant keeping him away from the Avalanche. I believe he’d be the key element that makes this team Championship caliber. I say that even though I am in no way a Crosby fanboy.
