The timing of the injury is not really the important point - it's the timing of the announcement that Ville was replacing someone in the lineup.
I stick to my opinion that the announcement was more about providing Ville with an opportunity and less about him taking over a spot from a vet.

That's fine. I didn't argue that he was taking over the spot full time this year. But my guess is they wanted to see if he could assume it full time for next year.

i was responding to Jet. felt he was OTT defending KFC. Jet was not amused. i felt shame.

I didn't take your post as responding directly to me.
But thought it was as good a place as any to insert my statement.

I think I was the one who started that conversation. My posts on the subject were twisted and misinterpreted and the conversation went off the deep end.

Most of the ideas of trades being kicked around here are focused on trading our futures for now players. Looking specifically at Buffalo I thought that they would be more interested in established veterans than futures. They have a ton of futures already. So if we want to get a high quality young player from them (or any other team in a similar position) what high value player should we consider giving up in exchange? It doesn't have to be Mittelstadt. It doesn't have to be Buffalo. We may get more than any one player in return. It doesn't have to be at the TD. Obviously it would have to be the right return for our needs.

Would Eriksson Ek be available? Good player, good contract with term. Not sure Minne would have any interest in moving him, at all. No clause stopping a trade.

What about someone like Zegras, or too much hype not enough substance there? Decent contract with 2 years left after this one. Having a shit season, so maybe some "buy low" potential. No clauses either.

Yakov Trenin has always intrigued me, but I guess he's more life another Lowry rather than a 2nd line centre. He'd be more a rental with his contract up this year.

All are left handed.

Zegras is also out long term with an injury atm. Can't see why Minny deals Ek, but he'd fit in well here.

Not sure if this article had already been posted (sorry if it has), but a couple of interesting names that I hadn’t heard yet that could be available — Giroux & Mittelstadt. We know how Chevy sometimes likes to trade for players who have some term left (not just pure rentals). These two would fit that and would be better than some of the other 2C names that are commonly being mentioned lately.

Morrissey - Nut shot. Seems to be ok.
Scheifele - Lower body. Should be good to go after all-star break.
Vilardi - See Scheifele.
Pierre-Luc Dubois - No heart. Incurable.
LA fans are more disappointed than PLD was when he went to Oz and the Wizard explained he couldn’t actually give him a brain, a heart, and some courage.

Im kinda coming around to the idea of Giroux. Loads of experience and still putting up points at nearly a PPG clip. Great mentor for Perfetti. One of the best faceoff men in the game too. He does have another year at 6.5 next season however. Not sure what it would take to acquire him but i'd be looking if i were Chevy.

I know it's unlikely a hell but Patty Kane would be a great add and hopefully a big help to the pp.

I know he's not a C and likely wants to stay in the US but as a true rental, who knows?

He's signed nor next year as well though isn't he? Not sure we can fit that in.
