Rumor: All Purpose Trade Proposals, Speculation and Rumours - 2023/24

The Canes are a team built on signing players and trades. They have a luxury that we don't. Just accept the facts that we cannot be like other teams because of who we are

It will make life easier for you and the decisions that this team makes will seem more logical outside the NHL bubble of why we can't be like some Large American city
Carolina was really not a hot destination in the NHL for a long time - they sign players now because they are a perennial contender

Chevy talking about how they are going to be tight against the cap after they sign their RFAs..... how??

The Leafs lost 3 solid forwards today and signing Klingberg who is well past his due date doesn't do much. Reaves is a joke and 3 years is laughable. They can some crazy decisions to make in the coming years and Mathews, Marner and Nylander hold all the cards.

i dont follow the leafs at all … and i dare not scour their boards

can you expand on this? Im curious how they got worse, up to 40 year old reaves commitment aside

They lost ROR, Acciari, Butting and now Kerfoot and replaced them with nothing.
Oh Dayum haha

It pleases me to know this

Wpg may be the only team to offer Helle close to the money he wants, this isn’t a cup team so he will have to choose between betting on himself or taking Chevys $.

Chevy did mention that Bro is here for tandem w Helle

Sounds like they’re going to presume he’s back and take a run at extending

Same with Scheifele

I figure there wasn't much of a market for Helle or Schiefele without retention. Hence the lack of activity.

Maybe at the trade deadline

IMO you have to make decisions now. We can’t go into the season is this what we will do at the TD depending on where we stand. It just begs for a gong show season.

Makes me real nervous that Chevy is comfortable with both 55 and 37 back to start the season. “All it takes” is an injury, down-year, or continued flat-cap situation and his ploy of waiting for a contender to take them at 1/4 cap hit at the TDL, being willing to pony up requisite assets, and having an organizational need for them is ruined.

That’s all it would take…

who would we get to replace 55 or 37 though?
any goalie other than 37 will be a downgrade

55 - it would need to be a 1:1 trade type of situation but to have a 40+ goal scorer back is not a bad play

and, how is an injury situation different than any other year? Imagine Helle injury last year and running it with rittich lol

Chevy is keeping the door open to conversations...sounds like keeping the door open as opposed to certainly trading them both out. If the move doesnt make us better, its probably not worth it to make the deal

FA just started - plenty of time till season too

We've done a good job with our trades lately. We seem to be able to convince some to like Name, DeMelo etc to stay as well

Doesn’t really matter who we replace them with if we get good pieces in return. Take a step back for a year and re-focus while the next wave make the NHL.

Injury situation is different than prior years because if they have a season ending injury at any point from October until the TDL, nobody will trade for them and they’ll have the opportunity to walk to Free Agency witho it recouping two of the franchise’s biggest assets since relocating.

I get he’s listening through the summer, but todays presser gives me the impression he believes the market will not allow for a “fair value trade” until TDL. I’m not saying he should take a lesser trade offered today because of it, but there is some inherent risk to banking on better value in 9 months’ time and that all else equal with respect to their assets will remain.
