I just hope he goes to a team that can use him the most.
I hate the whole the rich get richer thing.
Devils (obvious picks as I am a devils fan) have the weakest F group , and Buffalo and Toronto with us have missed the playoffs for a few years now. I wouldn't mind Boston either , they missed playoffs as well but just by a point.
If the Hawks get him I will puke in my mouth a little. Two free young prospects in consecutive years that would go there just because they were garbage at a time to be able to draft three / four franchise players and now are more or less now have players tripping all over themselves for a chance at an very good shot at a cup run and boost their stats playing on a stacked team.
Same thing kinda apples for the Rangers ... Hey we play in New York .. Greatest city on earth , doesn't mean we have the best run team , but hey , MSG , .... New Frickin York! Not Winnipeg Manitoba here!
I don't blame Panarin or Vesey if he chooses the Hawks , just sucks that the rich get richer .

The Rangers can definitely "use" Vesey.

That beat writer gave his source: Fish. That is presenting facts not the 'reports' nonsense other people are spewing. He is an actual journalist who used his sources name. Fact. The rest is all speculation. It may be right, but it is 100% speculation and I hope anyone who has a twitter account and follows these people rightfully call them out if they are proven wrong.

But why would Fish want to take teams out of the running. If I am Vesey's agent, there is no way I am telling teams that they are out. There is no benefit to that.

I understand that but I mean more like it's more time for teams to pitch playing time, make guarantees, get prospective team mates on the phone, etc.

And yet all of that is nothing more than talk...that any 23 yr old that's taken as much time as Vesey to think about all this should know means absolutely nothing.

And if Vesey believes that he wont be on the 4th line in January when he's not producing because Stan Bowman promised him in August that he would get top 6 minutes then he's not too bright.

Considering it was established the other day in the previous thread that the Rangers are a losing franchise, yeah I guess so.

I didn't read that thread. I just found your criteria for elite to effectively eliminate any New York Ranger player in their history from ever being elite, which I disagree with. A lot of elite NHL players have played for the Rangers.

Back on topic, I have only seen one tweet today worth mentioning and that is the one that listed his source as Vesey's agent. The rest are spitballing and re-tweeting each other and should be called out if he isn't a Ranger or Blackhawk tomorrow.

Posting facts such as 2 cups in 7 years being much more sustained success than 1 cup and repeat years missing playoffs is trolling now? 2 > 1 bro, especially when one of the teams is still making the playoffs and the other isnt.

Having multiple consecutive Top 3 picks is pretty nice.

There certainly is. It's called professional courtesy. He has nothing to lose by telling a team they are out. Nothing at all. Do you think the Blackhawks will renege on something because Fish tells them that the Islanders are off the list? It's rumored that at least a few of these teams could be waiting on Vesey's decision before going after Hudler. I'm sure they would appreciate a phone call when Vesey takes them off his list. There's zero reason to string them around until the 11th hour.

And I'd imagine the second that happens one of the NHL teams will report that themselves like the Redwings did.

This is a joke right? Maybe they were hacked? He has literally proven to be the exact opposite. Except the talented part.

What has he done to show you or anyone else who doesn't interact with him personally on a day to day basis that he's not humble, hard-working or down to earth?

A team player? Well technically he was never part of the Predators "team" itself.

Vesey hasn't spoken a single word to the media since the 16th. Since his college season finished up he has spoken once to a reporter and that was because they creepily came to his summer league games and basically asked him to say how great the Bruins were. Other than that he has said absolutely nothing. How has he proven to be the opposite?

Except they are choosing to work for the NHL.

They can still choose a different profession. Heck, they can choose a different league if they want.

For instance, take being an attorney and applying to a firm.
This firm has branches in Columbus, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Chicago. If they hire me, they CAN and often DO tell me where I will be working. This will often be based upon which branch/franchise needs me the most. I can't really say "I want to work for your firm and only in Columbus!"

The trade off is I get hired by a prominent company in a hopefully lucrative field. Once I have attained experience and made partner, usually in my 40's or 50's, then do I get the flexibility to choose where and when I work.

I could become a teacher instead. Or I could go work for a different firm. My choice, but once I make that choice, autonomy is out of my hands. It's even worse for doctoral students and medical residents on their way to becoming doctors.

You're not applying to a firm - that would be exactly what Vesey is doing now. That means you have a choice.

Using your analogy, you'd finish school and get told what firm you'd have to practice with.

I know Columbus has no chance of signing him but I am still disappointed that they submitted an offer.

Sure, there is the "try to improve the team at all costs" view, but on principle I don't think there should be a way around playing for a team that drafts you. Yes, it isn't a loophole, but my view is that young players SHOULD have 0% control over where they sign, RFA players with arbitration rights have about 50%, and UFA players have 100%.

Would you like to have the power to make choices about your employment to be given exclusively to one employer? Do you like other folks making choices for you?

It seems to be that playoff slam dunk team > second contract or Hawks would be out IMO.
Not sure on Rangers cap situation , thought it wasn't great unless they move one or more of Girardi Staal Nash

I guess that strength of line mates though would bolster his numbers enabling a higher second contract so Hawks have that as well. Just what happens if he gets the Saad maneuver ?
