So Vesey's camp tells Detroit that he wants to play closer to home near Boston, Yet Chicago is in the final running. Just come out and say that you don't want to play in Detroit.

Thinks it's more that Arthur is click hunting just like everyone else. He knows nothing more than anyone else who isn't Vesey, his agents, or his close family. And I doubt they are talking to Artie-boy.

(Sorry if this was mentioned already...)

but i find it interesting that Vesey's agent, Peter Fish, is Mike Bossy's first cousin.

Interesting in the "Kevin Bacon degrees of separation" sort of way... but I can't see it swaying agent or player one way or another.

I'll refer you to something I posted in the thread yesterday:

"I would imagine this isn't a black and white issue. Let's say there are 5 issues, rated 0-5.

Distance, current/recent success, future outlook, living situation, max bonus offer

Let's say you have to score a total of at least 15 to be considered.

Detroit scores, in order, a 0-3-3-3-5. They get a 14 and get knocked out. Chicago scores a 0-5-3-3-5. They get a 16, so stay in.

I'm not saying those scores are accurate. I'm just pointing out that distance wouldn't be the only factor, but it seems perfectly legitimate that even if it is one, Chicago is possible when Detroit isn't. Chicago has a leg up because of the stature of the organization."

Not only are those scores probably not accurate, but I doubt they went through and scored it in that way at all. This was mostly an illustration of how multiple factors could be at stake.

I totally see your point here, Thanks for the clarification. Should know in a day or so.

He has good knowledge of the 3 metro teams.

Really? I was always under the impression he was great in terms of the beat of the Islanders (as he's the Isles beat reporter), but not much else. My guess is that he got it from his Isles sources that they were out, and his Isles sources figure NYR or Chicago

Still wouldn't shock me if he goes home to Boston, I think Mom will win this one. Don't really know he would want to go to the Rangers. Chicago possibly.

He is the man when it comes to the Islanders. However, even if it isn't something about the Islanders, Staple is one of the guys I respect. Just my opinion though.

Which is fair. I mean I think he's definitely among the more credible of the beat reporters. It's honestly just going to be great to have this over with finally  though then that means we've got not much left to speculate over until hockey camps open :(

Have fun in Chicago kid. Nothing says a big second contract than that group of forwards helping you put up points.

Staple isn't Eklund. I am trying not to get my hopes up but it's looking like the Hawks are very much in the thick of things.
