I don't understand how some seem to judge how he will be in the NHL just by looking at his numbers, and not thinking about other factors.

I don't get the impression that most people are basing it solely on numbers (although I haven't read all the posts). Many of us, who haven't seen enough of Vesey, have to rely upon respected members of the hockey establishment to help shape/form our opinion. Here's what McKenzie had to say:

I can't find many NHL talent evaluators who don't think this kid is an NHL-ready top-nine forward, and perhaps ready to score 20 goals, as a starting point anyway, with the potential for maybe more.

So McKenzie is saying the NHL talent evaluators he talks to thinks Vesey is ready now so I take him for his word.

There were 101 forwards who scored 20 or more goals last year, 5 were in their rookie year. Seems like a pretty high benchmark.

the same things Auston Matthews could tell him about playing in Toronto?

Matthews is there to show him the future and his possible center. Much like Eichel,Tavares. Aside from the city.
Shanny can tell him all about living and playing in NJ,NY,Detroit and Toronto.

Too bad. I was secretly hoping the Vegas franchise billionaire would sign him and send him to Europe for a year with some kind of "personal services" agreement, like players used to get to pocket coin outside of the CBA. That would make some noise!:yo:

I may be going way out on a limb on this one, but that may skirt some clause or ten in the CBA and provide a big penalty. Not a great idea to lose your first round pick when it is almost certainly going to be a high one.

I think the fans that are offended are fans of teams that don't get to interview with Vesey.

Lol no. No one is offended either, because someone simply doesnt go along with the overhype doesnt mean they are offended or jealous. They are probably just looking at the situation objectively. The reporting on hockey in Canada has take a very direct spike down ever since TSN lost the broadcasting rights and Rogers took over CBC. Its unfortunate but TSN's reporting has also followed suit to look for ratings instead of more objective reporting. Its what worked for sportsnet to cator to the leaf crowd at every instance and TSN followed suit. The only thing I am offended by is the hockey reporting and its incredible bias's that have recently emerged.

Begs the question of what Taylor Hall could possibly tell anyone about playing for New Jersey.

Hall's just there to say "Hey, I don't know what it's like to play here, but it sure as hell can't be worse than Edmotnon, so it's got that going for us" :sarcasm:

Vesey could skate on the 2nd line with the Devils and get immediate ice time, if that's important to him.

And all he would have to do is beat out the ghost of Kunitz, who is gone after this year if not by the trade deadline, or Rust to play on Malkin's line with one of the best center's in the world on the cup winning team and one of the favorites next year.

Every team mentioned could play that game, and most with more attractive opportunities.

I doubt that the Pens get him, but am not going to make a pitch based on things that basically every team mentioned can and are offering.

Seems like hanging out in Boston is his number 1 priority. Not a very good way to look at your hockey career.

I take his meaning to be that he wants to play close to home, not necessarily play for the team located in his home city/state. Ask Hamonic how important that can be, and ask Snow what headaches it can create for the club he plays for.

What's with all the tampa fans coming in here and crying about him? Mad that they aren't in on him?

Its kind of irrelevant news to us because we can't be in on him. No cap space and really no space for him on our roster. He would have to go through Syracuse for a year before being able to make a contribution here. I think we would rather hear which team he is going to and know if we will have to play against a lot or not. Its also the only hockey news out there right now.

Terrible narrative to A. Group an entire fan base into one comment and B. Think that anyone calling him a brat is because they are jealous especially a Tampa fan. He would play on the 4th line for the Lightning.

I'm in the process of home buying right now. This sh** doesn't happen overnight. If it's true, then he's made his decision on NYR more than a few weeks ago.

It's like the 3rd tampa fan in the last few hours to come in here and make some sort of silly remark about Vesey.

Almost as silly as someone looking up only stats and pretending to know about him.

Well look at you grasping at straws. Sorry buddy but Jimmy Vesey isn't going to turn the sinking Rangers ship around.
