For what it's worth, the Twitter scuttlebutt is that the Devils sent Schneider (Who is from Boston) and Palmieri (who lives up there during the summer).

Why would Vesey even go to an organization like the Rangers? Surely he can do much better

Lol no. No one is offended either, because someone simply doesnt go along with the overhype doesnt mean they are offended or jealous. They are probably just looking at the situation objectively. The reporting on hockey in Canada has take a very direct spike down ever since TSN lost the broadcasting rights and Rogers took over CBC. Its unfortunate but TSN's reporting has also followed suit to look for ratings instead of more objective reporting. Its what worked for sportsnet to cator to the leaf crowd at every instance and TSN followed suit. The only thing I am offended by is the hockey reporting and its incredible bias's that have recently emerged.

Sounds like TSN is following in the footsteps of CNN. One is about Hockey the other Political.

Because he's likely going to get a good amount of playtime, and they are a world class organization?

It's not like the Rangers won't be able to offer him anything.

Not to mention the things we know about the Rangers even aside from on ice product:

Treat their players amazing,
Greatest city in the world
MSG
Original 6
One of the largest fan bases in the league
Most valuable franchise in the league

They also play younger guys in important roles if they prove capable of it (McIlrath notwithstanding), despite the perception.

Can this brat just sign already?

Why is he a brat? Seriously. The rules provide the opportunity for guys who play in college to enter free agency if they don't sign with their draft team. He's not at fault teams are bending over backwards seemingly to bring him onboard.

If the CBA didn't provide this option to certain players, then you'd be on to something. If he had signed with Nashville and then pulled a "Drouin" demanding a trade with no leverage you'd have a point.

More power to Vesey. The rules allow for this and he's been handling this the right way, if there is a right way to manage this sort of thing. If anything, the CBA is whats at fault here for allowing a player who has never played a minute of professional hockey to have this kind of power.

Yeah, the Rangers don't have the young talent that some other teams have, but we are a perennial winner, and even in our bad seasons like last season, we had 100 points and lost to the eventual champions in the playoffs.

Why can't these college UFAs sign at same time as normal free agents?

No hype. No whiners and no haters. Just a player in a player mix.

Just change the signing deadline.

If its true that Vesey wants to be out of the spotlight then why would he go to Boston NYR or Toronto?? We shall see sooner than later, HOPEFULLY. :banghead:

Because that's like a <45 day window from when an NCAA players school year ends. Making it a 90 window gives a team a chance to work things out.

He's going there because of playing time if he does. Most guys at his age are not going to overly concern themselves with winning yet. If he wants to win in 6 years he can go somewhere then that is competitive. But in no way shape or form are the Rangers his best chance to win in the next several years. I'm not even sure if they will be a playoff team in 2 seasons or even this year for that matter depending on how the Isles/Flyers do. We obviously know the Pens/Caps are finishing 1-2.

Winner at mortgaging the future to almost win now.

 Right exactly. They are currently trending in the wrong direction. They've certainly been relatively successful over the past several years, but calling them a 'perennial winner' seems like just a bit of a stretch.

Apples and oranges?

Is Vesey immune to be traded too in a years time that buying a condo right away might be a poor decision until he gets at least a long term contract? Maybe a NTC?

Maybe sign an NHL contract first? Figure out the bonus structure and what he can logistically hit and bonuses that might be out of reach
