They were never in it. They are just in denial.

Just like any other team not signing Vesey.

edit: Fans shouldn't be sour if Vesey doesn't sign with their favorite team. That means he never really wanted to be there so there shouldn't be any reason to be mad. I think this is where the Sabres management are. Sign with the Sabres or don't, it is fine either way.

Whatever floats his boat for me. I'll see it as gravy if he signs ...one more option. If not..I'm not sweating the 3rd rounder...was worth the risk.

Worth what risk? He had no intentions of signing and threw away a 3rd for nothing. Good to see sabres fans don't care about throwing away draft picks.

Throwing away one third rounder is not a problem. It only becomes one if that's something management does repeatedly.

Vesey had no intention of signing before UFA. Buffalo still bought themselves months of time to sell him on the city and the franchise. They bought themselves an advantage, regardless of when Vesey signs.

Yea the third for Buffalo I think was worth the risk, because even if he was set to go to UFA which I'm sure Buffalo assumed he would, they gave themselves a better shot at landing him after having time to pitch him and sell him on the city. It was probably just a plan to give them a fair shot once UFA opened when they had to pitch against teams like Boston, Chicago, and NY

I imagine, as part of the decision process, a few teams will be told "No" today.

I can't see Vesey and his camp discussing all 8 teams for the entire time.

I wonder if Jimmy refers to himself in the third person?

"Jimmy's along the boards. Jimmy's in the open. Jimmy takes the shot."

"Jimmy played pretty good."

Will fix everything
I gotta think its probably between 4 teams:

Boston: Childhood team, close to family, living and playing in Boston.
NYR: Chance to live and play in Manhattan.
Chicago: Chance to live and play in Chicago, instantly be on a contender.
Buffalo: Chance to play with Eichel and be on a team as the contention window opens.

Just depends on what is MOST important to him.

It's funny how people see everything as black or white. They can't put their thinking cap on and see why a lot of teams would like to add "only a 40 point player" on an ELC. Then they make their own narrative that he's overhyped and a spoiled brat. It's an entertaining cycle to see unfold.

plus NOTHING is happening in the hockey world at the moment. NOTHING.

This Vesey thing is the only thing that keeps me checking a few hockey websites at this time of the year. After awhile you get tired of guessing lines combinations for your team you know lol

Or Pittsburgh- chance to win a cup while playing on a line with the best player in the world....not to mention a much lower cost of living than NY, Boston, Chi.
