Devils on his list but Flyers not? In terms of the current and future sights, makes no sense.

Flyers obviously are tight on cap so I didn't really expect them even to be chasing him that hard.

But you just said why it might make sense? If Vesey and/or his agent are eyeing a good 2nd contract (which is stupid seeing as he hasn't played a game in the NHL yet, but I've seen it speculated a bunch of times before) then the Devils and their abundance of cap space would seem appealing.

Forward: Fasching, Carrier, Bailey, and Nylander all have shots at the big club this season. I don't expect Kane, Moulson, or Ennis to be on the team opening night 2017.

Defense: Guhle and Nelson have shots to make the big club this season. I don't expect Franson to make it past the 2016 TDL.

Opening night 2017

Vesey - Eichel - Fasching
Girgensons - Reinhart - Okposo
Carrier - O'Reilly - Nylander

Granted, I didn't watch a lot of NHL hockey last season because my team went full tank, but I didn't realize JML was still gainfully employed in the NHL. Interesting.

So one of Vesey's buddies (almost undoubtably a Bruins fan) "leaked" that the Bruins did well?

Wow. Stop the presses.

Zibanejad...to Zuccarello...to Vesey... He scores!!!

This is exactly why teams want to sign him. He is going to give a team the best years of his career on an entry level deal. If he plays great and earns whatever bonuses are given then great, if he doesn't then he is making 4th line money and having 3rd liners making 4th line money is also going to make your team deeper.

There is almost no risk signing this kid and they don't have to invest years in his development. It is a can't lose situation for whoever signs him.
He has yet to play a pro game and he's already 23. It would be unlikely he is able to make a career of being an impact player.

There's little direct risk in signing him. Promised ice time to an unproven player when there's other players who feel they deserve the ice time more might rub players the wrong way.

 Doing well it's not like they said it's a slam dunk. I expect every other team did well. That's the safest assumption.

For the Hawks, probably something like...

Vesey Toews Kane
Panarin Anisimov Schmaltz/Hinostroza
Panik Schmaltz/Hinostroza Hossa
Desjardins Kruger Hartman
Tootoo

Keith Hammer
Soupy Seabs
Kempny TVR
Roszival

Q has talked previously about moving Hossa down to the bottom 6. And I don't like the idea of two rookies/inexperienced players flanking Toews, so I'd imagine that Toews and Kane would be at least given a chance together.

He IS overrated. I mean if he hits his peak he might be a 2nd line W, more likely a very good third line W. That doesnt mean I dont want him, I'll be quite pleased if the Leafs sign him. But the commotion he has caused this summer is ridiculous.

Overrated lol.
Pacioretty is his ceiling. Any NHL team would sign him

If you have free tickets because your friend's friend plays left wing, would you rather watch a game at MSG, Barclay or NJ -- or would it make no difference to you at all?

Genuine question. I don't have an answer of my own.

MSG, then NJ, then Barclay's.

MSG is easy to get to, recently fully remodeled, good food.

NJ plays in a dump called Newark. I went to law school not far from the arena (before it was built) and it's a ghetto dump. A few blocks around the arena were made slightly nicer since it was built, but don't venture too far alone. The arena itself is nice and very modern.

Barclay's wasn't supposed to be a hockey stadium. The project originally was for a hockey and basketball team, but became very expensive and they figured they can cut costs by something like $150 million if they forgot about hockey. They built an arena unfit for the NHL. Then the Isles moved in. About a fifth of all seats are bad seats. Behind the net, whether you sit low or high, you can't see anything below the blue line, so either you're watching the far away net or nothing at all when the puck is near the closer net. Basically, you pay to watch the TV screen in the arena.

Outside Barclay's, in one direction it's a wealthy yuppie neighborhood, but the projects in the other.

Vesey signing doesn't mean much. But for whatever team he signs with, the fan base will see this as confirmation that their team is heading in the right direction. He's like a teacher giving you an A+. You can see it in the thread.

Bruins: Pick us! We're still contenders! We're not old!
Rangers: Same!
Sabres: We're the rising new future stars of the league!
Leafs: Us too!
Devils: Don't forget about us!
Penguins: And we just won the Cup!
Blackhawks: But we're the premier NHL franchise!

I would hope and believe teams are offering the opportunity for ice time not the promise and I assume that is where his decision lies. I believe current successful teams(Chicago, Pittsburgh etc..) are promising nothing. I would be beyond shocked if the Pens promised anything. (I also believe Pittsburgh is not in the running). And if others are promising anything it is foolish.

The nice area around the arena has been expanding every year since the Devils moved there. Not bad at all like everyone makes it out to be. No reason at all to venture away from that area, good bar and restaurant options. Also the Biergarten is now open there!!

Vesey - Vesey - Vesey

Vesey-Vesey

Vesey

This is probably why the Bruins meeting with him was so long. Vesey would have been as flattered with how much faith the Bruins brass had in him just as much as the Bruins brass was confused that Jimmy couldn't play every position at once :sarcasm:
