After some thought I just can't see him coming to Toronto. He has to beat out, Marner, Nylander, JVR and Komarov for top 6 time not too mention he would prob be below guys like Sosh, Hyman and Brown on the depth chart

Yeah. He's considering CHI or NYR but he was too scared of all the talent in TOR that he'd play behind. You nailed it.

He IS overrated. I mean if he hits his peak he might be a 2nd line W, more likely a very good third line W. That doesnt mean I dont want him, I'll be quite pleased if the Leafs sign him. But the commotion he has caused this summer is ridiculous.

It's not really his fault at the commotion that has been caused, that falls more on the teams themselves.

If its Boston friends and family its MSG./ Penn Station.
The Acela from Boston goes 145 mph along Long Island sound and gets there in just about 3 hours.

The Acela travels at the same speed as the regional Amtrak on the tacks in CT because they are owned by metro north and don't have the insfrastructure to travel at "crusing speed" and it takes 3.5 hours at minimum to get to Penn.. and it's delayed on almost every trip.

Yea, he's literally done nothing but elect to go to free agency. Sure it's a newsworthy story but the amount of attention he's gotten because of it has been completely out of his hands. He hasn't come to the media with anything shocking. He hasn't bad mouthed any organization from what I've seen. He's simply said he wants to test free agency.

His Harvard buddies work in retail on Madison Ave? Uptown has good shopping?

I assume you are not a NYC tour guide?

Rangers fans will have to bail me out here if I'm half right -- they would know what I'm trying to say and unlike me they would also know New York well.

I do know that Manhattan (now that I've learned how to spell it) is a very desirable destination for elite young professionals around the world. Here in Toronto there are a good number of law grads that love to go to work in New York (or London, or Brussels etc but especially New York) for a few years if their grades are high enough and the offers are good if enough. If they're at the top of the class the money and experience is unbeatable.

Out in the boonies where I grew up we thought of "Madison Avenue" as the epicenter of the most highly paid advertising and public relations agencies -- not that I've ever actually visited or had anything to do with one of these mythical entities.

I have, however, bought a fair amount of women's clothing in the vicinity of Madison Ave while reluctantly acting as a wallet/credit-card caddy for my wife and daughters. It rather seemed that an obligatory clothing purchase was the required ransom for their permission to finally leave the stores.

But no, retail sales was not what I had in mind.

New York being the Centre of the Universe was more along the lines of what I was thinking.

Come on Rangers' fans -- would you let me get beat up so stupidly on the subway without helping me out here?

How often do you hear a Toronto guy extol the virtues of New York?

A place where the Yankees can't close out a six-run fifth-inning lead on the Blue Jays?

I don't follow hockey but the Bruins didn't make the playoffs and the isles are coming off back to back 100 point seasons with s 25 year old superstar captain. There's nothing similar about the isles and Boston, and the team closer to average is the Bruins, who are below average. Fact. Hopefully your GM doesn't take another swig and trade away one of your last pieces of relevancy. Ex: Bergeron.

You said Bergeron was the only relevant player left on the team. I'm not having a recess type argument over whose team is better. I know the Bruins aren't good but they have more than 1 relevant player. You admit that you don't follow hockey so I'm done here.

That's usually what we tourists sound like -- tourists.

Listen, if you're from New York state maybe you know my neighbour's cousin's wife's sister. She lives down there somewhere! You must know her!

(We get similar enquiries from Americans wondering if we've run across an acquaintance who lives in Calgary or Ottawa while we work in Toronto. Sometimes on vacation our brains go on vacation too.)

Time to the Arena won't factor in, but to the practice facility could. If he wants to live in NYC I pretty much don't see how the Isles can land him. They practice out in Syosset. If I'm a 23 year old living in Manhattan, there's no way I'm going to want to make that commute. Unless he wants to live in Brooklyn or some crummy neighborhood on the East side, his commute to Westchester or NJ will be much better. My guess though is he'd want to be in the Village, Meatpacking, SoHo, TriBeCa or Chelsea, all of which are a solid 30 minutes closer to the Rangers and Devils training facilities than the Isles.

Isles don't practice in Syosset anymore. They are in East Meadow now. The distance from practice facility to arena is identical to the Rangers. The only thing that makes the Rangers situation look less daunting is about half the ranger players live in city while all the isles still live on Long Island. When some isles players start living in Brooklyn or Manhattan, this issue will be discussed a lot less.

Seriously people.

It's mid-August. Every writer is throwing out any speculation to get hits.

I remember this during the Babcock saga. Whole hockey world had eyes, so every reporter was throwing all the mud at the wall. Toronto is out! Back to Detroit! Gone from Detroit 100%! It's Buffalo! Deal done with Buffalo! No way he goes to Toronto! Oh.... He went to Toronto.

Listen to Bob Mckenzie and Elliotte Friedman.

Everything else is nonsense

If I were Jimmy, Id sign with the Rangers. 23 years old, Harvard grad. NHL player. Buy myself a nice place in Manhattan and download tinder. Pretty easy decision.

Can this game kid sign with a team already so we can get this over with? Tired of all this hype for a unproven college kid.

There's an easy answer to relieve your boredom: stop reading the thread that bores you.

Works every time.

Good for boring novels, magazines, TV shows and movies as well. The World's most tried and true strategy that every author and screenwriter dreads.

LA maybe.. San Diego is a place I go to a lot.. I don't think those Chargers fans are too pumped, and Petco is half full every night even when they are good.. I sat 3 rows up from the home dugout last year for $28

Was she originally from Newfoundland? If so, that's got to be her.

Unless she's the Jenny from Come by Chance. That's the wrong Jenny.

Who is this Veesey fella they're all talkin about anyway?
