He definitely should have had a tap in goal from Fox on that play where Adam decided to shoot it in the first too. Looked like he was playing freely and dominating. I loved every second of it.

Here you are sitting down to a large helping of crow and elected to go and put this together.

Respect.

Awesome, Man. Thanks for doing this.
Really appreciate this collection of clips.!
You’re welcome, I enjoyed making it! I had a bunch more clips from this game.

In addition to cross ice passes I’ve seen the Panarin line using “dummy” passes (idk the exact term) where a player fakes receiving a pass in order to condense the defense and then lets it go through. Trocheck fumbles the pass but he would’ve had a ton of space off the catch otherwise. This one they scored on on the PP against the leafs.

Also Othmann cheeky through the legs one touch pass on the regroup, followed by the only shift all year where Bonino had a pulse.

I missed this one, but late in that shift they also try what my hockey team used to call the “Jimmy V.” back in the day. The goal that Wheeler scored off that pass from Zib from behind the net where he had that creepy smile after. Seems to be something they are deliberately trying.

His playmaking is both picking up and being rewarded more often, however, his hot shooting has cooled off and he can't buy a goal despite putting himself in position for Grade-A chances. He could have had two goals last night easy.

I hate to keep going back to this but at what point does he warrant a look on power play 1 instead of Trocheck?
They are not taking the league leader in faceoffs who is also scoring a PPG rate off a league leading PP unit.

That would be shocking. Each offensive zone faceoff Vince wins saves the PP 20 plus seconds.

He's pretty much done a complete 180 from what we saw in preseason. He's making highly skilled plays nearly every game now, and multiple times in more games than not. That backhanded pass the last game was insane, although granted I feel like most d-man that are on a team not named the hawks probably would've picked it off.

I think to get to the next level he needs to continue to work on his strength and shot. Once he improves in those areas I think he's at minimum a consistent 60 point player. Even if his shot doesn't improve he's already got a good nose for the net and will still pot 20-25 every season.

All the Othmann video did was make me remember how bad Brodz was in this game.

Hes the equivalent to a cocker spaniel puppy who just moves around really fast, pees all over the place and then humps your leg.

Yeah any centering pass against the grain when you’re skating behind the net is deadly if it connects. I feel like at some point I’ve seen a name for this type of pass but maybe not. This YouTube vid has a bunch of them

You cannot break up this power play. If Panarin, Zibanejad, or Kreider come off the power play with injury, Laf takes the spot. That will likely happen at some point in the next 50 games.
My take remains that when we’ve got a decent lead in the 3rd we should start integrating Laf onto pp1. This way when an injury does occur, or the PP goes cold, as it did post season against the Devils, there is already familiarity and results should come quicker.

there were a lot of clips that featured kuznetsov and the caps. i wonder if many happened while lavi was the coach.

the zetterberg one was sick!!!

Incredibly dynamic last night and has been for the past several games.

If he learns how to finish hell be a top player in the league
Regardless of his goal totals in juniors he’s always been a pass first guy.

He definitely needs to work on his shot though over the summer. He has room
To grow in the next few years

Yea, I don't watch Laf anymore and worry. His skating looked underwhelming last couple years. If you told me he would've improved it this much I would've keeled over onto the floor. He's effortlessly getting around now. Just needs to improve his shot a bit, but he's so talented that I think he can easily do that. We already know he can score from in close, which you need come playoff time. I mean the clips from Chicago are plays we've been seeing all year. He has 19 ES points now. All of his offense has to come from there because PP2 is a moshpit with Chytil and Kakko out. Zibanejad has 17 ES points for comp and he's a PPG player because of PP. Feel for him, as I thought 13 could've won that game multiple times last night, but they also didn't play a great first 30. Can't keep digging 3-0 holes.

He’s shooting way more this year too which is more important.
like others have mentioned too Panarin is shooting way more, like he’s one of the highest volume shooters in the league this year. you can see it in trochecks shot rates too which are pretty down from last year. it is what it is and Laf has dramatically improved across the board, im thrilled
