I was never comparing Skinner and Gibson, I don’t know why anyone criticizes Gibson you instantly bring up Skinner? My point has nothing to do with Skinner. I just don’t know if Gibson is the guy you hitch your wagon too. However at $3.2 million with a rising cap it won’t be detrimental with the rising cap if he flops.

You’re right, context is king and because of that i’d be interested in acquiring Gibson (50% retained) to tandem with Skinner depending on the cost. But him being coined as this saviour that will GUARANTEE us a cup is hilarious.

Maybe but they typically still have guys you have never heard of who have more goals than guys like Arvidsson, Henrique etc

Nothing in life is guaranteed. I don't think Gibson is a "saviour"

They have Connelly, Brisson, Cataford, Karki, Uronen and Sapovaliv as decent-ish prospects to throw around, plus all their 2nds and five 3rd rounders in the next three years. They somehow have more picks than we do. Just a well-run organization that doesn't miss on value in their top 90 picks.

It's telling "slot line plays" had never entered his lexicon before today and now it's his defining metric for goaltender success. Expected goals against/saved though? Doesn't matter. He doesn't care about that!

We want him because we won't think about goaltending after he's here. Skinner can win any game on any night, but we are at the whim of his inconsistency. Will tonight be a Vezina tier night? Will it be AHL quality? He goes through streaks of either and it's tiring. In playoffs, he has been the principle cause of a loss for several games in a row for a couple straight years now.

That’s the whole point that was missed. It’s Skinner allowing goals on shots considered low danger. Those are the back breaking goals. He can break up the microstats anyway he wants bottom line- Gibson stops more pucks.

Interesting to note that Dostal has 10 Games under that .870 mark (and one below .800) compared to Gibson's 4 games under .870 (none under .800) but with nine more games played, so using that .870 metric, that's 31% of the time where Dostal has underperformed, compared to Gibson at only 17% of the time. So Gibson isn't only more consistent than Skinner, he's also more consistent than his own teammate.
