Im saying per the eye test, lafreniere absolutely doesnt look like someone struggling to make passes. He's struggling to get people to finish quality chances.

Well he has 7 assists in 535 career minutes with Zibanejad. Buch had 16 in 579 mins last year so I'm not really sure how valid the whole linemate thing is.

So what you're saying is that he has the most games played on that list, has the 2nd least amount of points, least amount of P/PG, and even Filip has a better +/- than he does? Even after all of this, he somehow deserves Power Play 1 time because that would somehow vault him to the stratosphere in points. Dare I say, as much as I would like to see Laf on PP1 myself, dude has to earn it just like everyone else.

Weird flex to highlight something he's not even excelling superbly at, but still just ignore everything else.

Out of 60 games this season, Filip didn't take a shot for 4 games. The man has finishing issues, but at least he shoots. Laf on the other hand, missed taking a single shot for 24 games out of his 71 played.

At some f***ing point, if you think you are feeding linemates that can never finish a play that would get you an apple, you have to take matters into your own hands and shoot the damn puck, but even this is hard for Laf.

Really thought this kid was turning a corner. And no, it had nothing to do with 1st line to 3rd line. He had a couple of tremendous games with Chytil. He just stopped skating, lost confidence, whatever it is that turns him from maybe coming around to being invisible again.

Hischier put up 52pts his rookie year & paced for 56 in his D+2. We could only hope he ends up the winger version of Hischier, it’s not looking likely.

It’s definitely getting to the point where the concerns are valid about ALL of our young forwards. Several drafts, two coaches, 2, 3, 4 seasons… Laf, Kakko, Chytil (Lias)… not one has really ever flashed a Hughes, Zegras, Svechnikov, etc. level of “high end talent” let alone MacKinnon type, let alone the unmentionable elite from day 1 type of top picks.

Flash isn’t all there is, but it’s not like they’re overcoming their lack of flash by being full of substance either. Was Beniers considered anywhere near the type of prospect Laf was? Jarvis, Mercer, etc.

We can talk about usage and linemates and blah, blah but it’s not like Laf didn’t play with 50 goal Kreider and Zib. It’s not like Kakko didn’t play with Panarin. Those other kids have been up and down their lineups and play with the guys they do BECAUSE they show something when given the chance. Our kids really have never looked any different than if you threw Hunt or Brodzinski on those lines. It’s the big downer amidst the otherwise exciting year and time in our team development.

Kakko’s D+1, D+2 & D+3 combined could very well end up 2pts more than Hischier’s D+1. People use these examples of players to cope but even these examples absolutely blow Kakko & Laf out of the water.

If you wanna say we've been hot so let's stick with what we have for a run, I absolutely agree with that. Past this playoffs, we have to stop looking for a 3C to play with Lafreniere. That mentality is a big part of the problem.

We have an $8.5m elite center who has been outstanding with Lafreniere. That's his center.

You are not really making a strong case by implying Laf can only produce if he plays with Zib.
I do think Laf should be playing RW. It suits his skills much better. I also think he will be better as he matures physically.

It's more the fact that the other option sucks and we keep trying it. It's been two games and I'm absolutely done with that third line already.
