I wish you good luck trading Anderson now. Should have done it last year.
Anderson the unicorn. Only one way to play. Good player but not at his current salary. So far this year, his season is similar to the 26 games (2019-2020) with Columbus when Josh had 4 points in 26 games. That season was followed by years of 17, 19 and 21 goals. Can he rebound? Is he hurt?

Tbh the guy produces against bad teams. This isn't necessarily a bad thing since we've always given points to underserving teams. Could be a tatar esque player for us, the type of guy you need to get to the playoffs to begin with.

Hes a 6th forward in a lineup, realistically. Hes secondary scoring for sure.

That and keep him on the wing. He's PPG as a winger with the Habs. That's where he belongs. The goals he scored last night were to his strengths.
I was talking about Anderson actually. But that's good to know that he's a PPG as a winger. Not bad at all.

I would say that's a baseline. I think he's still got plenty of room to improve. I doubt we've seen that much of what he can do yet.

Anderson could have had 2 goals last night if not for being snake bitten. He's getting chances. Its only a matter of time.

He's a present version of the Hab version of Lehkonen - except I think Anderson is getting even more chances of even higher quality than Lehkonen used to get.

He's got far more offensive potential than Lehky had. But he's not nearly as good defensively as Lehky.

Does he though? Lehkonen has far better hockey sense. Shots are equivalent. Josh is faster in a straight line, but Lehkonen can actually make a tape to tape pass.

Yes, compare their development at the same age. Newhook well ahead of the curve compared to Lehky offensively. Lehky took time to develop before he became a productive two-way forward. At the same age, we had no idea what Lehky would or could be.

Sorry, the person you responded to was talking about Anderson so I thought you were too.

Talking about a player pace right after he had a 2 goal game is a bit dishonest but still Newhook looks like a legit player with some room to grow.

Age and contract fits our core , looks like a fair investment for the price paid.

Tatar did have a 60 point season, that would be second amongst Habs drafted forwards since 2005 after Patches. Ahead of Gally, Chucky, Kotkaniemi, caufield, etc. though I suspect Cole breaks that barely this year.

Is that actually so?

Looks like a mixed bag to me. Here's all his points and the current ranking of those teams by point percentage:
Oct 11 - Toronto (11th) - 2 goals
Oct 17 - Minnesota (28th) - 1 goal
Oct 23 - Buffalo (22nd) - 1 Assist
Nov 2 - Arizona (20th) - 1 Assist
Nov 4 - St. Louis (13th) - 1 Assist
Nov 9 - Detroit (14th) - 1 Assist
Nov 16 - Vegas (3rd) - 1 goal 1 assist
Nov 18 - Boston (1st) - 1 Assist
Nov 22 - Anaheim (19th) - 2 Goals

Habs haven't played many games against the top teams in the league this year. Habs have the 11th hardest schedule left according to Tankathon.

As expected, his tools are more suited for the wings, has looked like a legit top 6 foward lately, his speed, hands, motor have been beneficial for Suzuki as well.

Its now obvious why Colorado traded him, they needed Newhook to develop as a center, not a winger since they are already pretty strong there and in win now mode. They added Ross Colton with the early 2nd and signed Johanson since then, 2 centers.

That was a good trade for both teams.

Yeah I realized after that Tatar put up pretty damn good numbers.

I was thinking more so a 50 point guy who feasts in bottom feeders as a baseline.

Hard to say what his ultimate upside is but I think he’s being sold a bit short on this forum. Not horrendously but I think he’s got more to show

I haven't gotten to see much of him but you hope that he's at least a 50 pt guy at some point since you paid a lot for him and more then the Canes paid for KK. It doesn't have to be this year of course but hopefully in the next 2-3 years he takes off on the wing.
