I like his game, but he's been playing with Anderson for the last 10 games or so and that dude has been a blackhole for offense.

Newhook still has 9 points in 17 games and could easily have much more if Anderson could convert anything.
I just wish he was more selfish. Guy could put up 30 goal seasons if he shoots like 6 shots a game. I’d like to have Ylonen on that line to replace Anderson.

Newhook will be our stable 50 pts guy. Even in this crappy roster he's on a pace for 45 pts.

I like a lot of things about him.
He's too small/weak on the boards to play opposite Cole. He's also not a match with Anderson or Ylonen on the opposite wing, because neither has enough hockey IQ to balance out his ok hockey hockey IQ. Maybe if Dach is their center though.

It will be interesting to see where he finds a home. He definitely needs the right linemates to bring out his full offensive potential. He was the catalyst on the Slaf goal. He forced the turnover with his hustle, the got the puck to Suzuki. Suzuki then used his pk as making ability to find Slaf. Slaf then used his shooting ability to finish. All three complemented each other to get the goal and get on the score sheet. Without leach's complementary skill set, none gets on the score sheet.

Maybe next year we see:

Caufield Suzuki Slaf/Roy
Newhook Dach Anderson/Ylonen
RHP Monhan Roy/Slaf

Kirkland, Montreal
Bouncing around from line to line, from wing to center and back to wing he still has 10 points in 18 games. Still young and learning.
He and Dach would of had a great season together
Unfortunately the worst happened with Kirby
So Alex can just use this year to get acclimated to the team and work on some stuff
And next year that line will be real fun to watch

So far he play like a top 6 player to me.

Speedy, great IQ, great motor. I really like what he bring on the table. 45 pts pace so far, it's really good!

When the team will be better, he is going to produce more, I see 50-60 pts player in him, maybe more.

I think he'll be a good fit with Dach and will produce next to him.
Tbh I think that will make him end up the scapegoat when he produces less than Dach or Dach goes cold while playing with him. Once Anderson is traded we'll need a new one. I would guess Xhekaj or Harris first then Newhook because of the cost to acquire him.

I don't think Xhekaj, Harris, and Newhook are in the same league as Hoffman, Armia, Drouin, Dadonov, etc... because they give you their all.

I think everyone gets a 1-2 year grace period before people start to pick apart their game. Harris and X being good for rookies will not translate to fandom next year. I've already seen some turning on Harris.

I think Newhook likewise will have unfair expectations of whoever the best possible picks could have been with the two picks used to acquire him. Similar to shaw when Timmins fueled the fire by saying he'd have taken debrincat and Girard.

True, it doesn't all come down to giving it their all. Shaw gave it his all. But I disliked the move because we needed more skill and MB used two great assets to get more grind.

But I never turned on Shaw. It only made me like Bergevin less.

I like Newhook personally because he's fast and has skill, and he plays hard, even if he's weak on the boards and doesn't have the greatest vision. He's at worst a 40 to 60 point complimentary winger.

The worst part about acquiring Shaw was that the same Chicago team gave away Teuvo Terevainen that summer.

I wish you good luck trading Anderson now. Should have done it last year.

Anderson should only be traded when he starts to produce. Right now he has negative value and would only bring back a bad contract.
