I don't. So far we lost Toffoli, Lehkonen, two pretty high picks, and they were unable to move Hoffman, Gally, Armia. Mesar and Rohrer picks are puzzling.

We got a Heineman, 1st, 4th and 5th for Toffoli. Sure, Heineman hasn't really amounted to anything and likely won't but that's the risk you take with prospects. Barron and a 2nd for Lehkonen is perfectly fair value.

Dumping the likes of Hoffman, Gally and Armia takes a willing partner. Who the hell wants any one of them without a sweetener? Do you want Hughes to give up Florida's 1st to say, Chicago just so we can move Hoffman or Armia? I don't even think that's enough to get out of Gally's contract. Think about it, we got Calgary's 1st just to eat Monahan''s deal.

Guess the contract has to be considered too. PLD will probably do well in LA they aren't a pile of woke smurfs trying to win by going back to the 1970's formula of small fast skaters who play a 'smart game' , they have some balls to build on.

If fatso and Rogaine don't hit a homerun tomorrow, I will have made it 1 year till I hated our new management team, 6 months longer than the last pile of tards. I just don't understand what the hell they are trying to do here at all any more. Rebuild? Why give up picks unless its a Dach sort of deal? I thought we wanted to get bigger and drive the PP more?
Trading for a player under 6ft tall is apparently woke now.

Most Avs fans, almost all, are very happy Newhook is gone...

Saying he has zero fight or grit in his game and can't win a puck battle to save his life....

smh.
What did we just get into?

I don’t know what to think other than looking forward to seeing what else Hughes does.

My point is this....Yes, I do see the point in packing picks to get young talent. But I'm in consequent and keeps saying that draft is BPA while trade is needs....I do not see the need for another smallish player, pencilled to be a C, that can,t win faceoffs. If it's to move to the wings...okay. Sure. But he's not growing up.

Dach has become a better player 'cause he finally learned how to play with his size. What will Newhook be able to do that he wasn't? Playing more? With better linemates? That's pretty much the only thing we could die on. Hoping that the talent that was seen ONLY needed opportunity and linemate quality. Maybe it does work.

But if the whole thing ALSO means not going Michkov, or Benson or even Leonard because we just added a Newhook....I think this is a loss to be honest.

Hoffman maybe Zona bound soon enough

People tend to focus on size if average players play small. Which he does.
I don't know much about the player aside from his hype from his draft year, but I don't know what playing small means, either. He seems to be a skilled player, and so I wouldn't expect him to be laying huge hits and running people. But, if he can play like Suzuki and be strong on the puck, then I am good with that. Will be interesting to see him in training camp.

He's not playing a position of need to us. Can we improve the defense first before gambling multiple good picks on wingers? I mean Newhook had as many goals as RHP last year. In twice as many games. I guess all those sports gambling ads got to Hugo after all.

I'm not sure what the plan for Newhook is here but I'm okay with us stockpiling young talent. If Newhook is going to be a depth player, I don't think that's a bad thing. That's what the 31st would've been anyway. Hughes is probably trying to advance the rebuild a little by adding guys in their early 20s rather than fielding total rookies throughout. I"m good with that strategy. It's certainly better than going after the Dale Weisse's of this world and trying to build that way.

I want to make it clear, I don't hate the trade, especially if it leads to moving Josh Anderson or the #5 to acquire some other good picks.

I just hate going from 3 Top-40 picks in one of the deepest drafts I've ever seen to just 1 pick.

If we trade 5 for 7 and 22, I like this year a whole lot more.

I've calmed down from my initial meltdown, but I still think we should've used these assets for a different target or just used them in the draft. Newhook is not Dach.
Dach wasn't Dach either when Habs got him last season :badidea:

i'd definitely consider swapping 5 and 7 if Philly is willing to take Gally's contract as a dump

5 + Gally for 7 + 22

Irrelevant.

Newhook vs. PLD was never a topic of discussion. Once Florida went on a run and LA started throwing assets Winnipeg wants, the whole "Dubois at a discount" window was closed.
I didn't care about the discount, I wanted the player. Newhook is dime a dozen, how many 60 points 6f4 C do we have in the pipeline?

Not afraid to make moves. I like aggressive management.
Seems to fit their idea of skill/age/familiarity so it's wait n see for me.
I'll judge it next year or year after. Judging it now n bashing it is just posters playing wanna be armchair GMs. Throw enough dartsxat the wall and then they can claim they were right lol.
Not every move will work out but it's consistent with their thought process.

On the plus side our knives are still sharpened from hounding the previous regime so it shouldn’t take much time to get to peak form if this regime loses our faith and trust.

Newhook is listed has a center, so Michkov is still on.
