I.E.
we had a team before the trade that most here said were not contenders and that we would be in the black hole and out in the first round again and again , and we all knew something had to change so with that in mind the only one we will miss is vilardi , AI is a good player but signed for a little too much and replaceable or at least redundant. Kupari might develop eventually but hasn't really displayed much overall and moving him also has now opened up 2 forward spots for for AK/ tonka/ Fagemo , so this year we will get what we want with a open spot on defence and at least 2 open spots up front ......going to be interesting if there are no more trades to say the least . I can see the beauty of this trade and if it fails possibly the end of the blake years , We got the best player in the tradeand that should help us progress for better or worse

Everyone said that about Jeff Carter and said stuff about Carter cause he didn't want to play somewhere, it was bullshit and I don't know why anyone still falls for that shit.
TBF, this is the second team PLD has demanded a trade from. Carter didn't want out of Philly. They gave him the big contract and shipped him to Ohio. And he was coming to play with his best buddy.

The top 9 is completely set, and its really good. Top 4 D, also set, also very good.
The team is now going to be sorting out a 4th line that has Lizzo at C, so it will be good.
Also sorting out a 3rd pair that gets to choose from Clarke, Spence, Bjornfot, maybe another asset that is incoming. These are good ingredients.
Really this team just needs one major piece: another quality G to pair with Copley.
All of these things can be acquired cheaply at the trade deadline. Adin Hill for a 4th?
It has been an ugly and sometimes painful process but this team looks ready.
Blake traded a bunch of middle/bottom 6 wingers for arguably a 1C.
I'm not a Blake fan but I cant criticize him heavily for this.

Fans crapped all over trading Patrick O'Sullivan for an injury prone player. Fans were displeased when a fan-favorite, point-producing All-Star defenseman was dealt for a grinding center and a stay-at-home defenseman. Fans were also upset when they gave up Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, two home-grown talents, and a 2nd round pick for a declining center.

This is what fans do.
What fans were those? Those were all solid trades for a team that had a prime Kopitar, Doughty, Quick and Richards.. that ain’t the case here, it’s 50/50 right now though I think once Todd is replaced this team will do better

I hate it with a passion. What better way to reward a floater than to overpay him and throw him in the LA party culture. Guaranteed he flops…
Where do you get the idea he’s a floater?

I haven’t got the chance to watch them live in two years. Unless something has happened in the last couple years he definitely wasn’t a floater when I watched him. He actually played with a bit of an edge and was chippy and chirpy.

I think everyone in the NHL has been caught, taking some shifts off. We’ve accused both Kopitar and Doughty of doing it over the last couple of years. I am sure Dubois has taken some shifts off as well, but I think you’re really going to enjoy the shifts that he’s on.

What cheap top goalie are you grabbing for nothing at the trade deadline?

PLD is no Mike Richards. The dude was already a gamer when he got traded to LA and an instant leader. It also wasn't a 4 for 1.

Simmonds, Schenn, and a 2nd. So we traded a fan favorite who was a 30-40 pt guy and our best prospect at the time.

Maybe its because I saw PLD a lot as a Penguins fan, but he's a very good player. Not Mike Richards level, but similar and less likely to break down IMO.

Walker was nothing.

Durzi got a 2nd.

Iafallo was 29.

Kupari was nothing.

Vilardi is a decent piece, but he's nothing special.

and to those that say CAP DUMP

oh like how Quick was a cap dump for us, but CLB STILL managed to get a plug G and a 7th

don't say that a 7th is nothing... the point is not the quality of the return, the point is there's an actual return that we are incapable of exploiting

Quick can get you a 7th rd pick yet we just dump him as cap

this confirms that we do not maximize our assets, we get whatever we get and we don't complain

There’s no contest. I loved Simmonds, one of two kings I had a jersey of with his name on, and I wasn’t upset about that trade. This trade sucks rabbit shit through a Boba straw.

I get your point and agree somewhat, but DL was trading for guys he had scouted and was filling in his vision for the team...While I dont think Blake has a vision. and as I said before this smells more of Luc than Blake.

I would absolutely love this deal if it were for anyone talented that is not PLD, but Blake pulled the trigger and he is the one that gets the center that can score 30 goals and 60+ points for a second-line winger, third-line glue guy, a fourth line center, and a non first round pick. It is a good deal in a vacuum, but we just really need to see PLD take it to the next level, but he is a talented 25-year-old 3rd overall pick in his prime so we will see I guess.

The offense and defense look pretty crazy right now though. In all fairness to Blake, his spending *should* equal some results on the ice. If they get a legit starter in net they will have the firepower to hang with nearly anyone to be honest. Whether or not TMac can get that out of them is another question though.

Lizzo is a midget your not winning with him at center

I'd sort of prepared myself for Vilardi leaving due to the rumors, the contract negotiations, etc. Not happy, but not surprised.

But i guess I'm one of the few people bummed about Kupari getting shipped off, too. I thought he was going to break out last year (Vilardi did instead) - I expect it to happen this year.

Why would anyone give up someone more talented than PLD for this package?

This is a really tame package. Vilardi has one good year and it was 20 goals and 40 points.

Iafallo was always going to be given away this summer.

*If* Byfield were to break out this season, Clarke and Spence play to their potential, and we get decent goaltending. This could be an absolute monster season... The team is in a position to do some damage. There are no excuses now. It is pure put up or shut up time. The team has to stay healthy though without added toughness.

Pretty sure VG just traded for quick to spite us... there was no damn market for quick as evident that Quick literally was the emergency goal for the rest of the season
