Bjornfot can't sign for .850M. That would be below his MQO. He will have to get 1M. Spence will likely be up as the 7th Dman his cap hit is .820M.
Bjornfot could save below his MQO - MQO just ensures that the Kings retain his rights if he doesn't sign.

Sorry to pick nits. Just want to make that clear.

I hate it with a passion. What better way to reward a floater than to overpay him and throw him in the LA party culture. Guaranteed he flops…

The part where it's being suggested he won't play well in the playoffs is foolish. Didn't anyone watch the playoffs while we were all stuck in our houses
The thing that makes PLD so enticing is actually his playoff performance for CBJ in 2020. If you get that guy more often than not then you're killing it.

10GP/10 Points/23 Minutes TOI/10 Blocks/20 Hits.

They got caved in by Vegas this year. Big deal. Four points in five games. 21 hits.

Hope PLD stays happy in LA for 8 years. He comes across as a very high maintenance hard to please forward.

Everyone said that about Jeff Carter and said stuff about Carter cause he didn't want to play somewhere, it was bullshit and I don't know why anyone still falls for that shit.

Fans crapped all over trading Patrick O'Sullivan for an injury prone player. Fans were displeased when a fan-favorite, point-producing All-Star defenseman was dealt for a grinding center and a stay-at-home defenseman. Fans were also upset when they gave up Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, two home-grown talents, and a 2nd round pick for a declining center.

This is what fans do.

I think he's going to play very well for us initially.

We'll see where it goes from there.

True, Richards helped. I still don’t like it and think it’s gonna backfire. I did like his game for Columbus in the Covid cup…maybe hire Torts.

Exactly. Ton of Richards vibe regarding this trade and the takes about the pieces.

If Kings qualify McEwen, JAD, Fagemo and Bjornfot then they have 14 forwards and 6 D (considering one of Spence and Clarke make the team).

I think Connauton might end up as their 7th defenseman which is fine. He’s serviceable in a limited capacity. Plenty of experience.

hey two 6ths gets you a Kevin Hayes (50%) and a Blackwood apparently

cute stuff happening at cheapo prices

imagine then being able to use Vilardi, Durzi, Kupari, and Iafallo for other stuff?

PLD did look good in the playoffs. I think he still has a lot of upside in his game.

That Winnipeg team had such a weird vibe on the ice (and clearly in the locker room) it was hard to really decipher what was going on.

LA Kings: new GM wanted -- inquire within

Everyone crapped on those 3 all season, and for good reason. Do you miss them and prefer they didn't move on from them?
No. We should have played others. Edler should have been at best a practice squad vet presence. Durzi should have been traded -- or utilized properly. Walker -- the 7th bench guy at best. But that's the point. If we were tanking last year -- then great. But we were trying to win. Last summer the LHD, Goalie and lack of toughness were a bright flashing red light.
There's no rhyme or reason here. We keep filling holes that are not needed and leaving true holes unresolved. Truly bizarre. Then trying to say he fixed this D issue by getting rid of these three is lol.

The addition of Dubois gives the Kings the best center depth they've had in a long, long time. Ideally they get more grit for the fourth line, but they are three lines deep now, and putting pucks in net shouldn't be much of a concern. Now how they manage to keep the pucks out of the net will likely be dependent on how much of a puck possession game they play.

I still hate the fact that Todd is behind the bench, and he's going to keep employing his unsuccessful 1-3-1 tactics that work out so marvelously against high-tempo teams like the Oilers.

Thats what dumb fans did. Those moves addressed needs - this one cements their inability to address those needs this year.

Every single one of those moves was celebrated by some of the same folks crapping on this trade.

I’ll probably be one of the only ones but I really like this trade. Sometimes fit is more important than the past so I still may be bitten in the ass but I think that Dubois other line with Fiala will be awesome.

Our third line last year was able to get away with a few things because they did not face the other teams best defensive forwards. Now to have a third line led by a Centerman as dangerous as a Danault is absolute gravy.

If Fiala did what he did last year with Lizotte as his center, then I’m expecting much bigger things this year. I think Fiala and PLD up each other’s game.

To not have to see Lizotte playing the extra minutes and getting dumped on his ass every shift will be a blessing in my eyes. Yes he does hit a lot of people, but it’s not effective. He gets knocked up to the ice and the other team retains possession in a perfect world. I would love to keep Kupari and trade Lizotte.

More time for Kaliyev. I want to see what this young pup can do. Not sure if he’s ready for second line minutes, but with two security blanket, such as Danault’s and Moore on the third line, he could see some good looks.

So far this summer has been good to me.

To not have to see Durzi cough up. The puck in prime real estate area will be a blessing.

To not have to see Peterson bobble the puck will be a blessing.

To have the big Russian stabilize the top four on defence will be a blessing.

To bring ip one of the top, defensive prospects in the world and allow him to play third role minutes well maybe getting a chance to get some power-play minutes will be incredible. Blake just needs to find a big physical left shot guy to pair him with.

People saying that our team will be worse than last year or just pissed off that we lost one of our favorite players . Yes he could put up more points than PLD or you could take a hit and be out for the rest of the year, or he could be the player we saw in the second half last year. We don’t know for a few years.

Blake still has work to do and I think we’re gonna be moving out more salary yet.

I am just happy as I love teams that are strong down the middle, and I love players that have size and play with a bit of an edge

I am in the firm belief that Byfield doesnt just take one step this year he takes a couple.

And I think we have a Defenceman The challenges for rookie of the year as well as makes us pull our hair out at times.

Let’s see what the rest of the summer brings.

And they added Gavrikov and Korpisalo to fix the defense and goaltending, and it worked (until Korpisalo crapped out in the playoffs).

They clearly don't like rushing prospects to the NHL, especially on the blueline, but now Todd has no option but to utilize Bjornfot and Spence/Clarke in place of the departed defensemen. The GM made room for those players now, so I fail to see how that's a bad thing.

Give Rob and Luc a cigarette, because they just got f***ed.
I think you mean some wet wipes.
Bjornfot can't sign for .850M. That would be below his MQO. He will have to get 1M. Spence will likely be up as the 7th Dman his cap hit is .820M.

Fagemo can't pass through waivers, so he'll likely be up. His cap hit would be .875M.

With Bjornfot as our 3LHD, and Portillo in the AHL (where he will be), we basically have about $150K in cap space with a 21 man roster. (1 goalie, 7 dmen, 12 forwards)
Non established NHLers sometimes sign contracts below their qualifying offer so they can get something else (i.e. higher minor league pay, a second year, maybe one or multiple years are one way contracts).

FWIW, Tobias Björnfot Contract, Cap Hit, Salary and Stats - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps lists his QO as $874,125.
