At least we don't have to hear that tone in Faust's voice where he tries to hype up something he obviously didn't believe.
That faked excitement is what turned me off him completely. Hated that phoney growl.

Initially I was a defender.

Another guy with no heart and no drive. He’ll fit right the f*** in. Surf’s up Pierre.

What other French Canadians are there in the league? Need to put those guys on trade watch too

The offense and defense look pretty crazy right now though. In all fairness to Blake, his spending *should* equal some results on the ice. If they get a legit starter in net they will have the firepower to hang with nearly anyone to be honest. Whether or not TMac can get that out of them is another question though.

Blake: we have the firepower to open it up with anyone right now

Looks like Clarke is of that breed fortunately.

I'm glad we agree there, Clarke is gonna be viagra for the roster

How does a lot of PIM equate to him using his size?

He boards people harder

Bjornfot can't sign for .850M. That would be below his MQO. He will have to get 1M. Spence will likely be up as the 7th Dman his cap hit is .820M.

Fagemo can't pass through waivers, so he'll likely be up. His cap hit would be .875M.

With Bjornfot as our 3LHD, and Portillo in the AHL (where he will be), we basically have about $150K in cap space with a 21 man roster. (1 goalie, 7 dmen, 12 forwards)
Baffling lack of asset management by Blake and whoever runs the Kings cap figures.

TBF, this is the second team PLD has demanded a trade from. Carter didn't want out of Philly. They gave him the big contract and shipped him to Ohio. And he was coming to play with his best buddy.
Let's see what happens if Carter ever gets traded to Winnipeg.

Until then, we'll never know.

I believe there are more moves to come, ancillary stuff that doesnt get out on twitter.
Roy is surplus once Clarke is ready for 2nd pair responsibility. Doesnt feel like this is the year.
Arvy seems more important now that Gabe and Iafalol are gone, but you never know with Blake.
LA needs to move some cap out. $4.5 mill left with just a 16 player roster. Thats 6 players at $750K average just to get to 22 sized roster.

Reality for LA is that top players rarely hit the market, so even though they are a destination city for free agents, if the top ones are not going to hit the market, then you have to trade for them to ensure you get them. The power of that 8th year. Security. It'd be like a $9.25 mill AAV if it was just 7 years to get him to $64.75 mill and leave him $3.25 mill to find a 1 year deal at age 32 to equal the same. or a $5 mill deal if he got $9 mill AAV.

I think your team did the right move. There is an old non written law, the team who get one player for 3 or 4 players win the trade. At the end, who's the best player of all them? PLD. So Kings won the trade.
You have a declining star C in Kopitar, before he retires here come's 11 years younger legs to play his position and he's the same size. Not quite the same skills but in today's hockey he's considered a good player.

Where do you get the idea he’s a floater?

I haven’t got the chance to watch them live in two years. Unless something has happened in the last couple years he definitely wasn’t a floater when I watched him. He actually played with a bit of an edge and was chippy and chirpy.

I think everyone in the NHL has been caught, taking some shifts off. We’ve accused both Kopitar and Doughty of doing it over the last couple of years. I am sure Dubois has taken some shifts off as well, but I think you’re really going to enjoy the shifts that he’s on.
He’s not he just takes shifts off like you said. He should be motivated and hopefully plays like in 2020 playoffs.

As a Jets fan, I must say, Cheveldayoff has an uncanny ability to get more than he should.

He traded Andrew Copp and a round 6 pick in the 2024 draft at the deadline for Morgan Barron, conditional round 1 pick in the 2022 draft (Brad Lambert), conditional round 2 pick in the 2022 draft (Elias Salomonsson) and round 5 pick in the 2023 draft.

I hope PLD continues his development and gives 100% in Los Angeles.

I wonder if Helenius could be ready for 4C, did his time in Ontario last season.. cost effective and large human... honestly id like Lizotte moved, he's not going to survive more than 1 round of playoff hockey (and didnt last season).
Helenius isn't close to being ready for NHL minutes. He's little more than "large human" at this point

Tell that to New York Rangers who gave up Morgan Barron, conditional round 1 pick in the 2022 draft (Brad Lambert), conditional round 2 pick in the 2022 draft (Elias Salomonsson) and round 5 pick in the 2023 draft for 16 regular season and 20 playoff games of Andrew Copp.

We have a GM that is loading up our roster to play run and gun offense, zero D… and a coach that plays nothing but 1-3-1.

Couldn’t get more brain dead if you had Simple Jack and the Rain Man trying to gangbang Lennie from Of Mice & Men.

This is what's baffling. I'm not a fan of Blake's abandoning of the rebuild and several of his moves (including this one), but some of this can be justified once they were down the road on accelerating the plan. BUT, what he's doing makes ZERO sense with the coach he's chosen. Does anyone think with the moves Blake has made that if the Kings play the Oilers in the playoffs next year that McLellan won't just 1-3-1 and cross his fingers again?

It just reeks of zero vision. Blake is any port in a storm until he gets fired.

Incredible how improving the PK is being completely ignored.

This is why I would have gone to Lindholm, besides being a rh shooter and much better at the dot.

This! A huge part of the problem pie is our wonderful coach. Our forward lines can look peachy on paper but we literally have a coach who self sabotages our lineup.

Can’t wait to see how TM ruins Clarke next year.

Well the problem child is now a King. Winnipeg got rid of him for 4 players. Blake just cemented that he is a complete idiot. I'll give the problem child one season with the Kings and he will give up on them and demand a trade to Montreal.
It's obvious Kings paid a lot and I mean : A Lot !!
Your team went full over the hill on that one.
In Mtl we had Anderson, Dvorak, a 31st and Barron or Harris. Dach was a big no, we keep him. Our crap wasn't interresting.
And that was a lot for us, so ....
