More moves are coming, people should chill. Not a finished product in June.
We have a high quality roster that throws out 3 great forward lines and two excellent pairs of D.
The 4th line and 3rd pair (who play 12 minutes a night?) have a bevy of useful options to insert.
The only thing we should be arguing about is which goalie Blake can bring in.
Don’t forget the 4th line got their cheeks spread consistently in the playoffs even though they barely played. Those are 12 long minutes when you have McDavid and Draisaitl back shotting you the second you step on the ice.

I think the biggest concern is still thecreason they lost in the playoffs. This is a soft team along the walls and in front of their net. They don't have the size on the wing to grind out games and hold leads. They lack perseverance, too easily pushed around and too easily defended against.

I assume Clarke, Kaliyev, and Dubois will help them offensively, but none of those guys kill penalties and none of them will be on the ice late in games. They just added to the strength of their team while losing the extra effort-type plays that defined Iafallo and Vilardi's games.

Its a very, very expensive wash.
That I can get behind.

Season still young. More changes are needed. Once I get home, I’ll look at our cap situation. I know cup friendly says we have about 4 1/2 million left with approximately six players to sign but if we add Clarke and Moverare (7th d) it makes things look a little better.

I would definitely be trying to move Lizotte as you can get two players on the roster for his contract and with those three big boys at center now we don’t need more than seven minutes out of our bottom line center. Punch me in the face for saying this, but maybe Zack MacEwen re-signed at league minimum is a fit. We would have the biggest center core in the league. I don’t think we saw him at his best last year coming off the official injury. In very limited minutes, and at league minimum, I could almost live with it

As much as I love Arvidsson I am now good with them trading him. It would be awesome to get a big power Winger, but there does not seem to be a whole lot out there anymore. It would also be great to get a big physical left shot defenseman. I was really hoping that in all the talks with Philadelphia will end up grabbing Seeler. The guy has size invite, complete 15 minutes a game and pretty much plays for league minimum. Hoping Blake circles back and takes a look at him.

All I know is Blake better have some magic up his sleeve to complete the roster and better have the balls to find a different bench boss if he manages to coach in the past and can’t find a way to think more progressively and adapt.

I wonder if Helenius could be ready for 4C, did his time in Ontario last season.. cost effective and large human... honestly id like Lizotte moved, he's not going to survive more than 1 round of playoff hockey (and didnt last season).
Even if it's not Helenius I'd trade Lizzo pretty easily. Not bad as a 4th liner or PKer, but too small and makes too much

That is the player we need to fulfill his destiny more than any on the roster! Outside of a Byfield going with joe rogan to trip on iawaska and find himself.

This team is soft as shit but they already were.

PLD had 71 hits last season which was a low total for him.

Vilardi had 41. Iafallo 27. Kupari with 80 but that is pretty much all he could do with his ice time since that line never had the puck.

Iafallo is good at getting in on the forecheck and stealing/retrieving the puck but neither he or Vilardi finish checks. Almost all the forwards on this team are all about getting in on the forecheck to try and get a stick on the puck or they pass up finishing a check if the puck has moved on.

If the team isnt set and stumbles out of the box, even better because Blake can shitcan Todd and get us the coach that takes us across the Jordan.
I don't see what cap space they can move out without significantly weakening the team next year. Dealing Spence or Kaliyev doesn't give you any relief for a goalie.

I would bet Arvidsson gets re-signed now that the offensive wing depth is gone. Can't move him.

Roy? Makes little sense now, but maybe?

Vilardi probably won't be able to maintain his high shooting percentage from last year, but I still think he will excel for years to come if he stays healthy. Dubois is the big question mark for me. If the dude is a ppg player and puts the effort in, it will grow on me.

Absolutely hilarious to think Grundstrom filling Arvy's production on that line.

I am a massive admirer of the way Vilardi plays and his immense creativity.

I also cringed every time he got hit hard or went into the boards with force.

I wonder about the potential length of career, or at least how many missed games he will rack up.

Only time will tell but I suspect the GM played it with these questions in the back of his mind.

I'll be hoping we can get his services back down the line, if all goes well.

Let me interpret that quote for you.

Draisaitl was a big talented douche last year. Now we have a big less talented douche to trade slashes with him.
Lol should we expect a first place Lady Byng vote for Dubois next season then?

PLD had 27 goals last season while most likely facing tougher quality of opponent than Vilardi. I know the 5v5 scoring stat has been bandied about on here between the two. Not taking away from Vilardi but I can't imagine him getting the same respect from opposing teams when it comes to match-ups.

It's not a lot of space but go ahead and trade Lizotte, insert Turcotte at 4C and finally let him sink or swim up here.

The whole thing about moving RV is that the guy is actually a low-key stud of a winger. Moving him to fill out the goalie position takes away from what Blake is trying to do here which is outscore all problems and be a power play menace. He almost had 60 points and was over PPG in the playoffs.

Blake can't move him just to clear space. I agree with you that people are just looking at a number and that there is one year left while ignoring that he would leave a huge hole in the lineup.

I like Trevor Moore. That is the contract you would want to move off of if we are talking about moving a winger and freeing up space.

I believe there are more moves to come, ancillary stuff that doesnt get out on twitter.
Roy is surplus once Clarke is ready for 2nd pair responsibility. Doesnt feel like this is the year.
Arvy seems more important now that Gabe and Iafalol are gone, but you never know with Blake.
