Yeah some prospect is gonna have to play in Moore or Arvidssons spot. Either Kaliyev or someone else. There is absolutely no way around it.

Alright, how about this then.

Fiala had the 2nd most ice time of a winger on the Kings.

Of course he did, he was a regular on the first PP unit. But playing him on the first line with Kopitar was a disaster. He won't be there again next year either.

He will be on the SECOND line with Dubois. Therefore, since math still exists, he is a second line winger as described.

Where did he play last year?

Where did he play in Minnesota? In Nashville?

Unplug your xbox and look at reality.
And who did he play with? He went over a point a game playing largely with a Blake Lizotte. A guy that should not even be on an NHL team. I know the guy has a ton of heart and is always moving but Fiala is a line driver and I think we see him take his game to another level this year. The guy also came back on one knee to try and help his team in the playoffs.

I’m very excited to see what he does with PLD and very interested to know if a dumb coach will go away from 1-3-1 with the talent we have on this team.

Adding a full season of PLD, Clarke, and Gavrikov is a massive step in the right direction.

There’s no reason byfield and Kaliyev shouldn’t take the next step if injuries can stay away.

I do have massive concerns in goal and still believe another move has to be made to address another big physical left defenseman but it’s not even July yet.

Lol Fiala and pld 2nd line players. Heard it all

Fiala couldn't beat out Kempe for #1 LW next to Kopitar. Dubois played with a bunch of players in the top six at center and wing. His most frequent linemates were Wheeler (over the hill) and Perfetti (way too green). And they were a -2 overall with 8 GF. Never cemented a spot at the 1C, never mind #1 LW. Who again, on this team is Kempe.

You're lost in the trees and missing the forest here. 2nd / 3rd line semantics are meaningless when none of the parts build a whole.

Well, with this deal official, guess the question is how the team lines up now:

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Dubois - Kaliyev
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Fagemo/JAD/Thomas/???

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Clarke
Bjornfot - Roy
Spence

Copley
???
Probably the best bet and what the opening lineup will be.

But from a fan standpoint, I don't look at that roster as any improvement over last year. I suppose the positive is moving out Iaffallo to make room for a guy like Kaliyev to get more of an opportunity.

Also moving Durzi was addition by subtraction so that helps.

Luc's really doing a good job ruining his legacy tying himself to Rob and Todd. Then again, Luc's still showing he's an absolute idiot at management anyways. Winnipeg had no leverage with a guy who wanted out and had no contract (in his defense, the preexisting leadership group seems to be a massive issue dating back years). And you send your best young draftee, a high 2nd and two other pieces. Not that I would keep Iafallo but he had value, and Kupari would've been more useful for depth than as a throw-in.

Then you put yourself in a situation where, in order to make enough cap room to add a LHD3 and a goalie, you have to trade Arvidsson. Unless Fagemo has a great camp, there's a legitimate situation where the Kings have 0 right handed forwards playing decent minutes, which is stupid enough on its own. The level of planning is near 0.

Hey guess what, Fiala is 2nd in time on ice as a winger 5 on 5 as well.

Check mate buddy!

Even without a second goalie this roster is over the cap.

I have literally no clue what yiure trying to say. Fiala didn't play on the 1st line due to chemistry with kopitar. Just cause brown played on the 1st line with kopitar doesnt make him a 1st line winger. Then you argue that pld played with bad wingers yet still put up 60 points.....

While we are doing the spring/summer garage cleanout, can they also jetison JAD and Grundstrom? I like @KingsHockey24 and @utah takes - we cant have tweeners populating the 4th line. We need cretins, cave men, poorly evolved individuals... as Dean said, team needs some criminals.

::cough:: Harkins sounded promising in the deal for this reason. Not that Harkins is tough or anything, but a bigger body with potential to score.

Could have been similar to Roy in Vegas.

I think the biggest concern is still thecreason they lost in the playoffs. This is a soft team along the walls and in front of their net. They don't have the size on the wing to grind out games and hold leads. They lack perseverance, too easily pushed around and too easily defended against.

I assume Clarke, Kaliyev, and Dubois will help them offensively, but none of those guys kill penalties and none of them will be on the ice late in games. They just added to the strength of their team while losing the extra effort-type plays that defined Iafallo and Vilardi's games.

Its a very, very expensive wash.
