Well, almost. There is only one goaltender signed to an NHL contract and two in the entire organization. Unless we are going Copely-Portillo I think we need at minimum one more thing, but I like his media answers. Run of the mill, but he is saying the right things. Hopefully, it translates and he takes the step.

I've met probably about 20-30 actors here in LA that were from Ohio. Quite a few from Dayton and a lot from Columbus.

While a lot of failed actors move back to their hometowns in NY, NJ, Texas, Chicago, etc. 100% of those Ohioans I met never moved back to Ohio and were in fact quite emphatic about never returning.

I can't blame Carter or PLD or the countless others that requested a trade out of Columbus or signed elsewhere. They simply can't keep and sign talent.

I'm still befuddled as to why Johnny Hockey signed there.
I used to have to travel to CLB for work and the guy I used to meet with said the only thing he liked about the place was the strip clubs were 100% nude.

If the forwards were paddling a canoe they'd just go in circles all day.

I’d flip it to be flowing lefty, but I just don’t care to make the effort. Just like the next 8 years of PLD.

I think the biggest concern is still thecreason they lost in the playoffs. This is a soft team along the walls and in front of their net. They don't have the size on the wing to grind out games and hold leads. They lack perseverance, too easily pushed around and too easily defended against.

I assume Clarke, Kaliyev, and Dubois will help them offensively, but none of those guys kill penalties and none of them will be on the ice late in games. They just added to the strength of their team while losing the extra effort-type plays that defined Iafallo and Vilardi's games.

Its a very, very expensive wash.

I really can't disagree with this statement. I don't think the deal is horrible but i do think that it's weird that Blake felt this as a priority. The team needed to address physicality and goaltending. So far Blake has done neither. Even with a goaltender the Kings are still going to get pushed around by VGK and Edm.

I would've traded Moore before Iafallo because Iafallo will actually go in the corners and can play with some physicality. Hell, move Arviddson while you're at it.

We don’t have any prospects to be patient with. Chromiak? Ok. Byfield was very mediocre last year for a top pick, and I’m higher and more hopeful for him than most. Just ask @Sol.
Yeah. I don’t get his line of reasoning. My issue with that was even with Vilardi you knew he was extremely skilled. Just slow. I just saw a lot in vilardis game to like vs Byfield. I don’t know how people can act like the Byfield doubts are unfounded. He didn’t really look impressive at all until they took him off his natural position and put him with Kopitar. Don’t know how any can interpret great things from Byfield when he looked pretty unimpressive for 2nd overall pick. And then you have the fact that they got PLD. It’s obvious there isn’t much faith in him justifiably so.

People act like it’s normal for a second overall to struggle this bad AND still expect great things from him just because he’s second overall.

You can’t have one without the other.

Well, with this deal official, guess the question is how the team lines up now:

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Dubois - Kaliyev
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Fagemo/JAD/Thomas/???

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Clarke
Bjornfot - Roy
Spence

Copley
???
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Fagemo/JAD/Turcotte/

Wait are there people actually saying that Kempe is better than Fiala? What on earth?

Fiala doesn’t need Kopitar to create offense. Kempe needs Kopitar to be scoring goals.

Fiala was the best forward on the Kings last year any way you cut it.

Vilardi being able to clean up garbage and make it look like gourmet cuisine was something we needed more of not less!

-We are still soft!
-We are now more of a perimeter team.
-We don’t have enough cap space to sign a starting goalie !
-Our penalty Kill did not get better.
-Todd is still gonna deploy terribly.
-We have 3 greenhorns fight for both of the bottom pair spots Clarke-Bjornfoot-Spence
-Blake is still trying to collect good players instead of building a team!

Kings need to address the goaltending issue. Copley got his shit pushed in whenever Korpisalo got pulled. He was a flash in the pan nothing else.

More moves are coming, people should chill. Not a finished product in June.
We have a high quality roster that throws out 3 great forward lines and two excellent pairs of D.
The 4th line and 3rd pair (who play 12 minutes a night?) have a bevy of useful options to insert.
The only thing we should be arguing about is which goalie Blake can bring in.
If the team isnt set and stumbles out of the box, even better because Blake can shitcan Todd and get us the coach that takes us across the Jordan.

If they can somehow keep RV and actually ice two goalies, the Top 9 is pretty solid. Top 4 looks pretty nice as well.

All of this movement and, still, none of it matters unless one of Byfield or Clarke becomes a star player. Like, one of them needs to be the best player on the team and in short order.
Looks like Clarke is of that breed fortunately.
