Understood, but the trend seems to be locking up players much earlier versus waiting until they hit UFA. Tkachuk, Norris & Stutzle are 3 examples.

Marner & Matthews are 2 other examples from the blue team.

Don't think you'd want to get into a Matthews situation like we have. We gave him a 5 year contract. Now he has a NMC in the summer and we have a tough decision to make, unless of course we sign him to big money.
Understood , was just correcting when his contract is up for renewal.

At first I thought Cat was just stepping up in games I was at, but now I’m convinced that this kid just does so many great little plays that go unnoticed and that I’ve not quite appreciated just how good he is.

I had high expectations and regard for him but he has surpassed them so far this season.

Easily the best player on the ice tonight.

Cat is awesome. He's very smart and good at everything. Definitely not just a sniper.

I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaks into that next tier of star player in the next couple years.

Sign him, Pierre. He's the real deal.

If we could get him signed at 8.5 long term before the cap goes up, our core will all be on steals of a contract

Your welcome Sens fans.

Its seriously baffling the Hawks let this guy go for what they did - at ADB's age it just simply does not make any sense to me. There is just nothing wrong with his game, he's very good at everything. He's always working and trying. And seems like a great dude off the ice too.

You don't let these kind of guys go if they want to play for you. Bottom line. So what in the actual f*** is the "hook" you sneaky Hawks???

Dorion must have done something blackmaily at that dinner. There's no other explanation.

The hook is the easy path to UFA and the hawks got 7th overall on top of additional picks for him. Sens need to sign him or get similar value back from him in order to win the trade .

I mean your right. Technically.

But I just find it hard to understand that the Hawks drafted him, developed him and saw what he was a star player - and chose to move him for the 7th OV pick in a weak draft.

He was the right age to be considered a player you just dont trade period unless someone blows your socks off. He was even down for the long term rebuild in Chicago lol.

For the hawks it's just a trade you have so, so little of a chance to recoup the value you traded out. It's the kind of trade you make when someone wants out or you don't like the player.

There are more than 2 plays on the PP.
1. Pass to the left to Debrincat for 1 timer
2. Pass to the right to Stutzle/Norris for 1 timer
3. Slapshot on goal to score or create rebounds
4. Pass to Tkachuk beside net for tip or pass across to Debrincat or Stutzle/Norris.

Turning down $8M-$8.5M over 7/8 years would be very hard to do; particularly if a large amount of it was in annual signing bonus payments.
Dbc didn’t even start the season on pp1 for some odd reason

Besides what was posted above they are full fledged tanking for Bedard. You dont finish with worst record in the league with Kane and Debrincat playing together. Maybe still bottom 10 but not rock bottom like they are
