On signing extension with Ottawa
DeBrincat: Let's see how the season goes first.

Plays 2 pre-season games

DeBrincat: So, about that extension.

I guess Zub has basically said he's not signing at this point.

Senators Salary Cap if this goes through:

Someone needs to play with Motte. He is probably the best defensive player and Stutzle the weakeast. While Stutzle and Batherson have the most big play upside. Id just like to see it for one game they have two left may as well try it now.

He is? I disagree. I think he's fine defensively. Both eye test and advanced metrics show that.

Ideally, they have a live press conference of Debrincat signing his contract. But his pen doesn't work, so Zub appears from behind the curtains with an extra pen and new contract to sign as well.

But then his pen doesn't work, so Alfie shows up wearing a POHO t-shirt with a working pen and plate of nachos.

And then Ian mendes punches Bruce Garrioch square in his squinty face, rips his bow tie off, and rightfully claims the tsn question period spot as his own.

Everyone claps, especially Clair Hanna.

Agreed.

In our top 6 I think Tkachuk is probably the weakest defensively. Giroux is not exactly Bergeron at this point either but he plays a bit more of a cerebral game and doesn't end up in trouble very often.

Stü is certainly not Selke calibre but he's OK, competes defensively and is improving. I think he'll be fine.

That's fair, DJ likes to play a hard for checking game where as Stu, Giroux and DeBrincat are more of an on the rush line. Would have worked well in a McLean system or under Murray back in the day, but it isn't what DJ likes
DJ needs to adjust his coaching strategy to suit the players he has, utilizing their strengths to advantage, not pigeonholing players into roles that do not suit them.

Tessa Bonhomme becomes full time tv anchor for Sens games and she gives free hugs and kisses before each home game to all season ticket holders (we suddenly go up to 20,000 season ticket holders)

Great news. I can see why DeBrincat wants to sign an extension. He’s the same age as the core and it’s a young farther he gets some certainty for his family.

Not sure how we can fit him in without letting one or more of Zub, Pinto, Sanderson, Greig walk, bridged or be traded. We don't even have a #1 goalie next year. Getting Zaitsev's $4.5M off the books is priority now.

At the end of the day, you can expunge someone wherever you have an embarrassment of riches. Eg. if Pinto becomes a dominant beast, you could sell off Norris for a blue chip prospect at the same position if you're in a pickle.

It's great to have a core grow together, until you owe them all top coin at the same time. Having a young star or two on ELC's or bridges would be key to keeping costs low.

I think they would rather keep Norris (aka Chuky's best friend). Remember Hossa/Chara situation?

I liked Lindsay Hamilton.

She was a good host and also a fine looking lady.

Agree, two of them would be like Giroux and DeBrincat of the tv anchors. :-D
We should take them both and add Natasha as a powerplay specialist

So that he can sign another major contract before he's in his mid 30s
He's not going to give up 3 years at 8+ million to sign another contract at 29.

He signed a bridge deal so he could get a mega deal now, no different than Matthew Tkachuk, exact same actually. He's not going to be signing for anything less than 7 years
