Just holding out hope for the sake of holding out hope.

Writing is in the wall, and has been for ages. Takes a lot of mental gymnastics to jump around to all these other avenues rather than using Occam’s razor.
Sure, but if there’s no decent return on the table then we might as well wait for the deadline.

I mean, Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux formed the 2nd best line in Senators history.

Not sure why we’d pine over having Tkachuk be there rather than DBC.
Also, Norris getting hurt played into it too, the Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson line would have been a great option if Batherson wasn't still struggling with his ankle and Norris wasn't out all year

Absolutely, but if that happens we aren’t trading him. We’ll keep him as we are in a position to play until the end of the season for a playoff spot.

Same as Gaudreau in Calgary, a team in a playoff position/race is not likely going to be trading a guy that’s helping the team.

Glutton for punishment with nonsense like that.

He's fine with playing in Ottawa? Well ya, he's not a holdout candidate. He wants his money no matter where it's coming from, but that has no bearing past this season or should make anyone feel any better about the scenario.

Crushed. Kind of surprised. Thought for sure once the sale happened he’d get a bonus laden deal. But alas.

His market will be strong and I think we’ll get a good return.

A list like that doesn’t help the Sens much.

He’s going to have teams like LA, NYR, Vegas, Florida, Tampa etc on that list. They aren’t going to be trading for him.

The list of teams looking to trade for a 9 million dollar player won’t be that great, like it wasn’t last year for Chicago.

Detroit may be the only team willing to trade for him, and on his list. If he surprised If there were more than 2 teams on the list and actually looking to acquire him.
Lol no he isn’t. He’ll have a list of teams that he can reasonably expect to be traded to, since he wants to be traded.

Dude, get a grip.

That’s a lot of assumptions.

Regardless, it’s dissapointing, but also an exciting opportunity to make the team better in a different way, while also being a cap team.

PD is not trade shy, and I like most of the big moves he’s made during the rebuild so I’m somewhat stoked to see another big deal made this summer.

Everybody is talking about the toughness of the playoff teams, so it’s as good a time as any to add in that area with skill.

Cant wait until October, while at the same time want a nice slow hot summer…. Lol

Absolutely, reasonable assumptions.

What teams are generally active in UFA and attractive spots for guys? Vegas, NYR, Tampa, etc. Most of these, are not in the market, or able to add him. That doesn’t mean he won’t have them on his list. It’s just places he’d be willing to play. And as a UFA, that’s usually good teams.

DBC isn’t giving out a list of teams that would be willing to trade for him and get him in, he’s giving a list of places that he’d be willing to but his UFA years. Those places, almost always, are populated with the same teams, give one or two depending on who it is (Detroit on his, not on most)

The same way Stone gave the Sens a list he’d be willing to sign with, but the only team dealing for him that he was willing to sign an extension was Vegas. Islanders were a team looking to trade for him, but he wasn’t willing to sign there. Likewise with Winnipeg.

Lebrun expects Vegas, Dallas, Tampa, Nashville, etc.

Crazy three way trade idea

Dubois to MTL
DeBrincat/ Forsberg/ Dvorak and 1st (Florida) WPG
Hellebuyck to Ottawa

Edit: WPG can flip Cat at the deadline

That being said, Debrincat probably wants back to the States so it’s likely not gonna happen

Having a preferred list of teams he’ll sign with increases the chance of getting “sign and trade” value.

Unless, of course, the list has just one team.

At this point, take him to arbitration, get something reasonable for a salary, 7.8ish, and it bumps his value up even more at TDL with a lower salary. So what is arbitration gets the played PO'd at the team. We should alread be past the point of caring.

Heck I'd even be OK with riding it out. Salary cap space in the league is at a premium and a commodity in itself. It may not be as valuable as the player, but it still has a lot of value, maybe even more than a trade can return. Yes the arguement is you never let a player go for nothing, but the hard fact is every player at the end of his contract and testing UFA is likely gone for nothing. Some team has to eat it. Next years UFA list is very very strong, although granted give it a year to see who resigns, it may also end up crappy. I'd just sooner take a shot at a prime FA than settle for a pick that has a 50-50 chance of being a third line player .......

So now that it’s out there from his agent that he’s not going to be discussing a contract with the Sens, what do we think the package looks like?

Going to say a pick, 2nd line tweener and B prospect

That might be optimistic, depending on the pick.
