This trade never should have been made without an extension in place.

Having said that. f*** DeBrincat. He could have made his intentions known earlier. He was one of the biggest disappointments immediately following the Chychrun trade when we were in the hunt. He folded in the pressure like a cheap tent. GTFO.

DBC did nothing wrong. He was traded for, against his wishes, and played out his contract.

It doesn’t take much to see he wasn’t looking to sign here long term, that’s on the team trading for him, not DBC.

Now he let the team know he’s not willing to sign here, before the draft. He’s given the team more than enough time.

Can only imagine how much value was lost by not trading him at the deadline.

Probably could have gotten another 1st or at least another good asset, but for some reason it was viewed as acceptable to fly past the deadline with no extension in place.

Summer of Dorion part 2 coming up. Can't wait.

Depends. It seems like hems willing to sign an extension with 10 teams. An extended Cat might be net us something close or better than 7th overall in 2022

I acknowledged that it’s on Dorion for not having an extension in place in my OP.

DeBrincat was still disappointing when we needed it most. The dude disappeared in every big game down the stretch. Cya DBC!

A list like that doesn’t help the Sens much.

He’s going to have teams like LA, NYR, Vegas, Florida, Tampa etc on that list. They aren’t going to be trading for him.

The list of teams looking to trade for a 9 million dollar player won’t be that great, like it wasn’t last year for Chicago.

Detroit may be the only team willing to trade for him, and on his list. If he surprised If there were more than 2 teams on the list and actually looking to acquire him.

Can't wait to boo this little f***er

Dude it's not his fault.

Never wanted to be traded to Ottawa. He's an American who's played his entire career in the U.S.

He scored 40G last year and he comes here and starts on the 2nd PP because there was no spot for him on the top PP, where he scores most of his goals.

Can only imagine how thrilled he was about that. Never was a fit here.

I am honestly okay with it consdering i don't think he is going to be worth the contract he wants. I could absolutely see a team signing him to a big money contact regretting it, but we will see.

Still like the move.

No matter what, and I am sure this was Dorion's train of thought, he can always a recoup a 1st in a return, so why not try and go for it? He can get that 1st now, at the TDL, anytime.

Personally would love Bertuzzi, and overpay a little, and still have cap flexibility.

Personally, was very frustrated with his play. Usually small guys are fast, but he is anything but. I think whoever signs him long term will be getting a small player who will get slower

Why extend him without seeing how good he is first? He was not a good fit.

Wait... you don't like the player because he's small and slow, but you like that we traded a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for one year of that same small and slow player?

Traded a 7th overall + development because we can get a mid/late 1st a year or two later.

Probably was the line of thinking. Really dumb, but wouldn’t be surprising.

It's not Heatley bad but it's definitely a bit of a slap in the face given how he seems to be unwilling to even give this much of a chance.

Is this team and city really so bad?

I was very happy when Dorion made the move, still respect the move.

Watching him this season tho, I never felt like he drove the play or took over a game. Does DJ’s coaching style help him? Maybe not, but that’s my feeling.

Having Chychrun healthy (hopefully), will help a lot. I thought we’d make the playoffs next season, now I have a lot of question marks in my head. It will be very interesting to see this trade. It’s a very important trade for the team. I dont have much faith in the pro scouting of this team, but we’ll see.

Really makes everything weird as Giroux isnt getting any younger and now we lose another top 6er and have wasted a 10 on Boucher….
