No no, you need to be concerned with replacing his production. Or at least a chunk of it.

I mean finding a 20 goal middle 6er should be something we can do + the production increase by the players above.

I mean I’m not concerned with our ability to find it, we do need to replace it

Was listening to this earlier. Ryan and York are former players so you can say fans are over reacting but when those guys feel the same way it means something
Perhaps you can summarize their views?

In a nutshell:

- York thought DeBrincat didn’t sound enthused about coming back
- Ryan agreed, but also said after he thought about it he gets it bc no matter what he’s getting 9 million and it’s okay if he doesn’t know yet
- York also noted no love for the city, Wallace said he just thinks he’s unassuming and maybe didn’t even go out much
- both Ryan and York do not think he will be an Ottawa Senator post-draft

It's an important move. As long as we get someone who can pot 25 and be a solid, fast 2-way winger, I'll be ok with it, but I'm firmly hoping we can sign DBC personally.

Thanks.

I can see a draft trade happening. PD would have to be chatting around the league for potential trade partners and engineer a trade somewhere that DeBrincat will sign.

I’d think that a trade during draft weekend is 99% probable at this point.

Will definitely try and get a trade worked out with someone DBC will agree to sign with, but that will be muddied if he’d like to just accept his 9 million dollar QO with the Sens or whomever he is traded to to head to UFA.

Will also limit the number of teams that we could work with to maybe as few as 1.

This is the kind of thing that worries me about Chychrun too though. It's amazing that we acquired him, but he's got only 2 years left.

Hopefully the 8th year with DBC will play a big factor. It certainly has the potential to.

Chychrun I aint worried right now, If for whatever reason we don't improve next year, then I will start sweating.

If the team allows him to talk with whatever team, which they presumably would, it’s the same with the new team acquiring his rights.

Stone signed an 8 year deal with Vegas that was agreed upon prior to the trade.

Seth Jones was traded to the Hawks on July 23rd, and signed an 8 year deal on July 23rd. A trade with DBC would, hopefully, be like Jones with the extension in place.

If he wants an 8 year deal, Sens would look to find it for him at the draft, otherwise lose out on his return.

If Ottawa is the only team offering 8 years, it could sway him.

This seems like a much better read/look at how DeBrincat felt about being in Ottawa and the year. Talked to Mendes a few weeks ago and put out this article today.

That’d be kinda shitty but what can ya do gotta get something for Cat if he doesn’t want to be here.

Next Biggest question becomes do the Sens go after quality or quantity with Cats money ..
